When is it going to get better?
By: Jack | January 5th, 2009At this point, I think it’s a question you have to ask.
Southend, thanks to an injury-time equalizer, managed an all too predictable 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. What’s that make us over the last month or so? I’m glad you asked.
The Blues’ record spanning the past 14 matches is a sterling 6-5-3. In league, we’ve gained 19 league points over the same span. To put that in perspective, Fulham has only lost once, tallying 20 points. All I can say is, yikes.

The scariest thing about the whole situation is the fact that I — and I’m sure much of the Chelsea support — weren’t too surprised with Saturday’s result. And against a League 1 opponent? Has it really come to this?
I’m not one to freak, and I certainly still think this season has potential, but it’s becoming more and more apparent that this team in its current configuration is not built for sustained success. There are clearly problems in the dressing room, and Philly Steak seems out of ideas — and excuses. I hope I’m wrong, but the signs are clearly pointing the other way.
Our Jan. 11 showdown with Manchester United is a season-defining fixture without a question. How we fare at the Theater of Dreams will go a long way in deciding the direction this club takes in the future — not just this season, but beyond.

I seriously hope we get our act together before facing Manchester United…These bunch of chances a game with only one goal to show for it is just not cutting it…

f*** transitional stage and its goin to be a barren season bla bla.i have a burning desire that this is our year and we can snatch it all in a miraculous recovery which cements our status in history as a powerhouse and breaks livpools title hopes for another 18yrs. First it starts with us the fan.im in south africa but if i could i would be cheering my heart out at every home and away game because without this club i have no year worth living. Dont expect us to draw at home.expect the unexpected.expect us to win.to be honest i think ’some’ our supporters are too old, help prove me wrong because i see old faces ,arms folded, sulking.come on scream! this club adds life to days. Our players lose hope of winning because we lose hope in them.motivation is whats needed. And here we are. When u here the away fans screaming louder than us at home we have a problem.the team plays slicker football when they know they have their 12th man. They do it all for us.we should do it all for them regardless of performance.they get scared of losing the ball becouse of us therefore lack confidence. Scolari should give all the players a licence to shoot. Get morale up.WE JUST NEED TO PASS FASTER(less chance of interception) MORE MOVEMENT (harder to mark) BE DIRECT(got the ball head for goal not back, around just straight-adds pressure) NO OVERPASSING (take the chance while you have it. Doesnt allow the team recovery).RESILLIENCE(be compact sometimes we should wait to counter) THATS IT. i know for a fact as soon as essien gets back no more beautiful football just raw instinctive drive.he will inject that fresh blood and hunger to win and to take no prisoners thats what we need
