The impostor is a runaway choice in this season’s most unwanted award category. Sorry guy, but you were shit. Give us back our Bison.

Readers’ passenger of the season voting results (2010-11)
Total votes: 139
Michael Essien 56 votes (40.29%)
Fernando Torres 33 (23.74%)
José Bosingwa 27 (19.42%)
Frank Lampard 17 (12.23%)
Other 6 (4.32%)
Other votes: John Obi Mikel 2, Florent Malouda 2, Paulo Ferreira, Jack (yes, I received a vote, flattering)

Nando’s forgettable first four months at the club were enough for 33 of you to recognize him as the worst of the lot this season. Bosingwa somehow only received 19 percent of the vote – shocking, at least to me. Super Frank received some lenience in the wake of his injury-riddled start to the term. Obi continues to catch heat despite some excellent performances this season – two write-ins, the same as Flo who was the most effective player in the Premier League this season according to Actim.

But no one can quite touch the wretched man who has replaced our once dynamic Ghanaian in the center of the park. His plight has been well documented around here unfortunately, from the lack of impact to the potential end of his run as one of the world’s finest. I’m certain I’m not alone when I say we all are hoping for a renaissance in 2011-12. That is, of course, if he remains with the club; rumors have suggested he could be used to bring in another world-class midfielder such as Wesley Sneijder.

Nevertheless, the man was incredibly poor this season and I can’t argue with the voting. Not at all. Here’s to Mike can bounce back in a massive way next season. We need him.

If we sell Flo then who plays on the left? We shouldn't sell Flo. Essien? Maybe...but he deserves another chance. If Lampard had his issues with injury then so did Essien. The Bison deserves another shot. And there's NO WAY Ramires is going. I can trust Roman about that.

Mikel isn't consistent...so we need Essien as an option for the anchorman role.

                     Cech

       Ivan - Alex - Terry - Cole

                   Essien

      Ramires              Lampard

                  Sneijder

           Drogba       Torres

Uh if we sell Flo, who plays left? Someone else. Duh. We buy a new player, a younger one, that doesn't just have great spells at the beginning and end of the season, with a crap filling in the middle. Essien has been in decline for a while now. We COULD give him another shot, but what if he plays like crap again? His value goes down that's what. Sell him while we can, and get what we can while the going is still good.

I believe when a team wins a trophy or a double it's because of the team effort. Likewise, when you go through something like the ten game freak streak we went through after Wilkins' sack, it's because of the team not playing well for whatever reason. It wasn't just Flo who went missing then. I think it was the whole team which just got lost. To blame any single player, for what was a collective failure, would not be fair in my humble opinion.

Ya, but like I said before...Mikel isn't consistent. If his form goes shit or gets injured then who plays as the anchorman? I don't think Ramires will. And knowing Chelsea's trust in their youth players, I don't see Mceachran playing there often as well.

Lots of Ifs n buts...so I think it's best to keep Essien for another season. As for the left sided player in Flo's place...Anelka? (question marks about him too), Kalou? ( Flo's form was better than his), Sturridge? Kakuta? (maybe, but same problem for him as Mceachran's). Chelsea isn't going for any LMF/LW in the market at d moment. Only time will tell.

    I say bring on Neymar!!
    And Flo...please go away!!

  • Yoshi

Forget about Neymar. Santos want an oil field from Roman for him.

I'd rather than "here's to Mike", I'd say, "Here's to Mikel". I'm ready for the Essien+cash=Sneijder deal.

Last thing i red was they wanted Essien+Flo+ramires
if they do this i will loose the respect i have left for the teams management

  • orthodoxyordeath

I can stomach losing Flo and Essien for him (although that's a bad deal), but Ramires? He's a great player. We can't give him away.
