The Yard Sale: Bring Your Change Wallet

By: Jack | March 11th, 2008

yard.jpgRoman is planning one of those massive yard sales, you know of the house-cleaning sort where you pick up a 30-piece set of porcelain puppies for 5 cents.  So, with all this moving and shaking, how much can our favorite Russian expect to reel in from the sale? Let’s use our collective heads to find out…

Frank Lampard
Potential Suitors: Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus
Fee: £8 million

Didier Drogba
Potential Suitors: Barcelona, AC Milan, Real Madrid, MK Dons
Fee: £25 million

Ricardo Carvalho
Potential Suitors: Real Madrid, Inter Milan, AC Milan
Fee: £12 million

Andriy Shevchenko
Potential Suitors: AC Milan, Dynamo Kiev, MLS
Fee: £7 million

Claudio Pizarro
Potential Suitors: None
Fee: £0 million

Tal Ben-Haim
Potential Suitors: Tottenham, Newcastle, Bolton
Fee: £3.5 million

Steven Sidwell
Potential Suitors: West Ham, Sunderland, Reading
Fee: £4 million

Florent Malouda
Potential Suitors: Lyon, Real Madrid, Liverpool
Fee: £8 million

Shaun Wright-Phillips
Potential Suitors: Newcastle, Manchester City, Tottenham
Fee: £10 million

Carlo Cudicini
Potential Suitors: Tottenham, Arsenal, Middlesbrough, Newcastle
Fee: £3 million

A cool £80 million right there.  Let’s be real, though, with the way we sell — Damien Duff anybody? — we’ll be lucky to recoup 35.

Lampard is a bargin at that price, but i guess he could just buy out his contract anyway these days. I’d also take Carlo in any side really. Great keeper. Why do Chelsea wanna sell Rickie Carvalho? Alright so the guy is a bit wreckless in the tackle, but he’s much more enjoyable to watch that Terry, i reckon

I would hope Chelsea wouldn’t want to sell Carvalho, but I assume his loyalty was to Jose and not the club. Plus, the unrest right now at the club could add to some discontent he may have.

It is the correct move to let Drogba go. We all love Lamps but i believe most of us would accept selling him but the price is a real bargain for a player of his caliber. As Mancini decided to leave Inter in the summer I think now would be a great oppurtunity to go after the best striker in the world, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. I was never a big fan off his but after following him this season he is without doubt just as good, if not better than Drogba and the best of it is that he would fit perfectly into chelsea. Imagine a forward possessing Drogbas strenght, Ronaldinho’s technique and still has many years to come. Only proplem is that he would be very expensive.

If that’s the wholesale, then I’m slashing rich boy’s tires, dammit. This is just too Shakespearian for me.

Zlatan the best striker in the world? your having a laugh .. i could just see him playing up front with Anelka .. you would have the greediest & most over rated strike force in the EPL ..

Rumour mongers everywhere! lamps will stay as will Carvalho,Swp to Newcastle would suit Keegans attack and Ben Haim and Sidwell may go also, but it’s unlikely Drogba will go anywhere unless we have a ready replacement
such as Benzema or Huntalaar. We may still approach Berbatov but only if we get same price for Drogs….Shevas destination is a mystery. No more bad business please.
