England 1-2 Germany: David Beckham – Only ‘Time Difference’ Will Tell
By: Andy | August 22nd, 2007Now that David Beckham is commuting from LA to play for England does that mean we can have some fun?!!?!!?!!
Think about it. By the time Beckham flies back to LA after playing for England, did he really play for England and did England really lose to Germany? Or was it all down to time difference? After all a 11-12 hour flight back to LA, plus a 8-9 hour time difference and David lands back at LAX before England kick off!!
Surely not. England lost 2-1 after taking a 9th minute lead through Frank Lampard (a Chelsea player who scored his first England goal in a year), and despite Lehmann’s best efforts to appease the home support with various Arsenesque blunders, England still conspired to lose this pitiful friendly that saw Newcastle’s ‘new hot shot’ with the new hair colour and style Alan Smith and ‘I have just played a few minutes first team football this season’ Michael Owen the hot shot sharpshooter both start up front.
Didn’t Owen prove in the first half……. NOT…. how hot he ISN’T when blasting over from close range after another Lehmann error?
Anyway back to that time difference!!

Forget the time difference — how many beers had you consumed before you came up with your theory?

I personally enjoyed the theory. I wonder if the Galaxy will apply the same thinking when they get stuffed by some run of the mill MLS side tonight.
Guys, I’ve put a site together that lets fans have their say on their teams latest kit. We’re going to approach manufacturers to make them listen to what fans are saying. If you get a few minutes, can you head over to http://www.worldfootballshirts.net and leave your views on the Chelsea shirts for this year. Thanks guys.

Andy — I didn’t say that I didn’t see what you were getting at… My first twenty two years in the UK left me with a deep appreciation for irony.
