Now unless you are into American Football (Rugby with Helmets and Shoulder Pads), you are not going to know who Ian Johnson is.

If you are into American Football (Rugby with Helmets and Shoulder Pads), you WILL know who Ian Johnson is. Yep the same Ian Johnson, RB for Boise State who scored vital winning points against Oklahoma and then after the game, proposed live on American TV to his 20 year old girlfriend Chrissy Popadics.

Well it seems that Johnson has a following in the U.S and he is a star in the making. So what a star wants, a star gets. Johnson’s idol is no-other than Chelsea’s Didier Drogba and Sports Illustrated journalist Arash Markazi arranged a transatlantic phone-call between the two.

Cool story. It is interesting when athletes are fans of players in other sports. I would imagine that if Drogba grew up in the States he would have been a good American football player.

I think his moves would work as a running back. He might be gangly but he is quick on the side to side. Put a little more muscle on him and convince him that it is fun to be hit by 300 pound men and he would be good to go.

I remember seeing this article on the SI website. It’s always funny to see one kind of football player talking to another. Drogba was really nice about it too!
