Hull City 0-4 Chelsea

At the moment Chelsea fans who are still in shock over Jose’s departure and the very quick appointment of Avram Grant shouldn’t go too mad about the win at Hull City last night. I mean no disrespect to Hull City and their fans, I am past the days of ’slagging off’ other teams nowadays, unless that team plays in the red-half of Liverpool.

But Hull City sit at the extreme lower end of the Championship and they did suffer a ’shock’ 1-0 defeat at Sheff Wed on Saturday, so the game last night and the scoreline suggested where the power and who the power team was.

All day yesterday, various texts, phone calls and face to face conversation’s - only one question was asked of me. “Whats the score tonight then?” My reply was either 1-0 to Hull City or 5-0 to Chelsea and I DO admit the 5-0 was rather tongue-in-cheek. (Look at Chelsea’s goalscoring record the last few games and you will understand why).

As it turned out, Chelsea hit four and sit comfortably in the hat for Saturday’s 4th round draw.

Let’s face it last night’s game was a massive ‘BANANA SKIN’ for Chelsea in their current crisis according to the press and media, not just in the UK but worldwide.

But under the direction of Avram Grant, Chelsea was adamant that they would be the only winners. For thirty minutes against Man Utd on Sunday, Chelsea looked good, passing the ball quicker and forward faster and the same applied last night. From the kick-off, Chelsea pressed and pressed their hosts and within the first five minutes or so, Chelsea won five corners.

Credit to Hull in front of a sold out Kingston Communication Stadium, they didn’t buckle plus they attacked and gave Carlo a few scares.

However once Chelsea scored, the game was technically over. Scott Sinclair who caused Hull problems down the left all night put Chelsea ahead eight minutes from half-time and within minutes of the restart a Delaney own goal, put the game beyond doubt.

Further goals from Sidwell and Kalou sent the travelling Chelsea fans home happy, despite their ‘Jose Mourinho’ chants all evening.

To finish and apology’s for repeating myself, for 30 mins against Man Utd on Sunday and last night at Hull, Chelsea played some good football, pushing the ball forward and faster than we have seen before in the last couple of years and that isn’t a criticism of a certain someone.

If we can play the same type of game with eleven players on the park - hell is one place Chelsea may not go too!!!!

Scott Sinclair is pure class. That boy could be one of the greats. Well done to the Blues, they were just on a different planet.

Do you reckon Shevchenko will catch game against Fulham?

Why was he left out against Hull?

As far as I know Sheva wasn’t injured so he could have been rested for Hull. As for him playing against Fulham on Saturday, that might prove difficult as Grant announced this afternoon that Didier Drogba is back in the squad.

Matt - Scott Sinclair is CLASS. I think he is a far better player than Arsenal’s Theo Walcott, although Scott ‘disappeared’ the other night - he still showed loads and loads of potential.
