Same here. Chelsea should have kept him until he wanted to retire.

A sad day indeed. It seems that there was absolutely no attempt to sign him. Tossers.

No No No you are wrong, Macca himself begged Chelsea to let him finish his career in his home country, and as he has been a brilliant player for the club they decided to give him his wish. He still had 1 year left on his contract! Macca was amazing in his 5 years at the club but with Essien and Jon Obi playing the same position, Maccas chances at 35yo would have been few and far between. Everyone at Chelsea wishes him well and us fans would love to see him back at the bridge to give him a good send off.

    Hi there,

I have linked to this post in my latest article on Just-Football, for anyone interested. Think of this as a trackback. I believe its a big loss for you boys. Although to be fair having someone of the calibre of Essien to fill the gap isnt so bad.

Real Madrid took years to recover after letting him go. something tells me the same won’t be true for Chelsea, though. i love Claude, but he’s older than dirt. you’ll be OK.
