Chelsea Snap Up Sao Paulo Starlet

News just surfaced that we’ve entered into an agreement over the signing of Lucas Piazon from Sao Paulo. Link (albeit in Portuguese) after the jump:

Fresh recruits.

I haven’t necessarily tracked this kid, nor do I know much about his progress over the years. For those that are bilingual, have a go at the official article from the Sao Paulo website here.

The interwebs describes him as the ‘next Kaka’. So maybe this will finally put to bed the rumors that we’re about to sign the real Kaka. Otherwise, it seems that the boy has oodles of talent and needs a bigger platform to demonstrate his skills. The prospect of pairing him with Joshy in the midfield has my heart a flutter.

Here’s a YouTube compilation someone put together of the lad:

Talked to my Brazilian buddy who is a Sao Paulo fan.
Turns out they all rate the kid.
He said everyone there's raving about how he's the next Kaka.
Great signing for the future if it is true.

  • Excellent news.

Hey, what happened to Stoch? I know he ended up at Fenerbahce, but how is he doing there?

  • I've heard absolutely nothing about him this season. A quick run to Wiki sees he has two goals in 21 appearances.

  • Very interesting. I remember reading in January that he was pretty much dead-on to join Juventus. Good on us for making a move.

Apparently the fee is around €7.5 million.

  • A good bit of business in my estimation. I like.
