Chelsea v Watford Preview

Chelsea look to bounce back to Premiership winning ways this afternoon at Stamford Bridge when Watford come visiting and with West Ham United set to visit Stamford Bridge next weekend, Chelsea’s target surely has to be 2 wins and six points from six especially with the match against Man Ure on the horizon.

In twenty-one League meetings between the two sides (Second Division, Old First Division and Premiership), Watford have won nine, Chelsea eight with four draws. Watford’s last League victory at Stamford Bridge was back in 1986 when they thumped the Blues 5-1.

Perhaps the most famous match between the two teams was the FA Cup semi-final in 1970 at White Hart Lane when Chelsea won 5-1 before winning the FA cup after the two titanic games against Leeds United.

After Wednesday night’s 4-0 drubbing of Aston Villa in the Carling Cup, I suspect that Jose will make two changes in that John Terry is available again after serving his suspension in midweek, following that sending-off!! And Ashley Cole to replace the unlucky Wayne Bridge.

Watford have a doubt about on-loan goalkeeper Ben Foster and Marlon King is definitely ruled out.
