Confirmed (pretty much): Neymar to remain at Santos

Neymar is 18 and contracted to Santos for 5 years. Rooney started the Premiership at 16 and Ronaldo at 18. Neymar will not learn as fast in Brazil as he will in England. I think he is making a mistake. But it’s good for Brazil and Santos because it will boost their local profile. It’s disappointing for international fans who want to see what Neymar on an international platform.

There's plenty of people who moved to the EPL too early and their careers stagnated as well, though. I think it's smart for him to get a year or two under his belt more before moving.

Finally we can move on from this Neymar soap-opera to gradually integrating our young players into the first team. I am not looking forward to overpaying this unproven talent. We have Kakuta already, so we have a lot to look forward to. I just hope to see more of Kakuta, Sturridge, Bruma, Van Anholt this season.
We have already paid too much for Ramires, I just hope he is worth his transfer fee.
Neymar's main objection (in line with all young talented prospects) was not getting enough game time and starter experience and instead being used sparingly as substitute if ever.

Your thoughts mirror many of mine in my follow-up. I must disagree with the statement that we have overpaid for Ramires, however. I think he will provide us with a lot of understated quality.

Agreed, 25mil would of been a lot for an 18 year old.
