Drogba out until October?
By: Jack | August 20th, 2008
This is sure to be news to Scolari & Co.
Didier “I don’t know what I want” Drogba, who missed Chelsea’s opening match of the season with Porstmouth, looks to be out until October if Ivory Coast manager Vahid Halilhodzic is to be believed. Drogba was inclued in the coach’s 22-man squad for the Coast’s Wednesday friendly with Guinea, but was not used.
The coach spoke about why he decided not to unleash the Drogs after the Coast’s 2-1 win.
“Drogba will not be back before a month, a month and a half,” Halilhodzic said. “He has started to run but he will not be available for the match against Mozambique (September 5).”
Wait, what? Isn’t Uncle Phil expecting Drogs back by the end of the month? Something’s not adding up.
If there is any truth to what Halilhodzic is saying, it just underlines Chelsea’s need for offensive reinforcement. I thought we needed a proven striker before this news; now, especially with the Robinho deal all but dead (or is it?), it’s simply a necessity.
So, with that being said, who would you guys like to see come in? Let’s be reasonable people, too, because as much as I’d love to see Kun in blue it’s not going to happen this summer.

I don’t think he will be out for that Long, but then Chelsea is got quality players to stand in pending the time he gets back, and this could afford Di santo an opportunity to show what he can do

Oh, Drogba’s out leaving us with one fit striker? Know what we should do? Get rid of our only other striker besides Kalou. Great idea.

I know what you’re saying jon, but I can’t see Scolari not having some sort of plan up top. He must have at least a couple of targets lined up if he’s willing to move Sheva, etc.

I say let’s add Kaka to the mix. Even though he is not a true striker, he could be used like Joey Cole was in the last game slashing to the goal.
Di Santo’s time has come as well. I like Sheva, but obviously Scolari doesn’t.Or just use Essien….(half way kidding)

i think, if scolari can somehow keep EVERYONE happy, this team can win every trophy. Think about who we’ll be able to play in the Carling and FA cups…your starting lineup to include Cudicini, Alex, Ivanovic, Bridge, Belletti, Ferreria, Essien, some youngins, Di Santo, Kalou…INSANE.

I wouldn’t be so sure tom. From Sky Sports: “Ramon Calderon says Real Madrid will not sell Robinho to Chelsea and suggests the courts will have to decide what the Brazilian must pay to terminate his contract.”
