Three consecutive FA Cups? Forget it. The end of this special run brings special thanks. First to the players for failing to spark off – again. I’d also like to shout out Everton, for attempting to kick us off the pitch from the start and Phil Dowd, of course, for allowing it to happen. Don’t let this cynicism disguise our frailties, though, of which there were many. Another struggle? You need not even ask.

How many penalty shootouts have we lost now over the past several seasons? Scratch that, I don’t even want to know. I’m off. Back later with a full review. In the meantime, discuss this debacle amongst yourselves.

ashley cole should never ever be in the PK line-up.. he has no finishing capability what so ever and has never shown himself to be a clutch player that can handle pressure. I would rather have peter cech take a penalty than him. Dear god, the only player to miss the target.. and boy did he miss it..

that said the reason we lost this game is because we just aren't lethal in our finishing, created more than enough quality chances... I think a major reason for the lack of finishing is just the lack of confidence and belief, something we never lacked under mourinho and hiddink.. how I miss those coaches..
