MotM Poll: Chelsea 4-1 Swansea City

By: Jack | September 24th, 2011

Fernando Torres loses his fucking mind. Chelsea, meanwhile, don’t miss a beat.

nando
God dammit, Fernando

The Chels slash four past Swansea at the Bridge despite playing with ten men for the better part of 50 minutes. It was pretty much an excellent performance aside from the wretchedness that was Torres’ fist-half, studs-up lunge on Mark Gower at midfield. Just a dumb decision from the Spaniard, particularly more appalling considering he was the best player on the pitch up to that point.

Indeed, Torres had not only scored a wonderful opener but also sparked the counter that led to our second with a cheeky through ball for Ashley Cole at midfield. He was, to use a ridiculous sports cilche, on fire. Oh well. He’ll miss the next three league matches.

Fortunately for us, we have the tools to deal with such a loss. Nicolas Anelka produced a competent display today, while Didier Drogba made a scoring return to the side after that frightening collision against Norwich City. We will be able to deal. Torres, however, will need to impress in our Champions Leagues ties. It’s a must he continue improving as he has thus far this season.

As for today. Again, solid work from the boys. We survived an early surge from Swansea to open the second half – John Obi Mikel excellent over that span – before taking over proceedings. We were pretty much bossing things as the game came to a close. Conceding late on is a fissure in my ass, but the Drogs capping the afternoon made Ashley Williams’ header much easier to overlook.

Well done, boys. On to the Mestalla in midweek for what surely will be an excellent tie. Before then, have a vote in our man of the match poll and leave a comment or two with your thoughts on the win. Match recap, as always, is coming soon. KTBFFH

lamps walks off the bench after josh gets the 3rd sub? come on frankie, keep your head on strait. it gets me wondering tho, whether some in the chelsea squad are starting to form an anti-AVB camp like they have towards managers in the past.
i could see it both ways, AVB hasnt cow-towed around the untouchables like Carlo, Big phil, Guus, grant, and even jose had done. that is refreshing but bound to go through some dificult times. altho one could say that the core of guaranteed squad members is getting to old to control the goings-on at the bridge, this still is a formidable crusade for any chelsea boss to undertake

  • Sharinganfx

Or, Roman's agenda in hiring AVB was to finally bleed out the untouchables because he knows that's how he did things at Porto. Guys like Anelka and Drogs still showing they can get the job done, but Lamps has just been lack luster all around...

  • dan

unfortunately our CL match is against a formidable valencia side this week, or else if I was AVB I might not even announce Lamps in the squad come Wednesday just to send a message that selfish bullshit drama will not be tolerated and that nobody is above the team

  • Mateo

So true, i think its thanks to lampard that we got used to playing one man down (with him on the pitch, but doing nothing) haha

but seriously, if we just walked away that way AVB should make him know that he isnt bigger than anyone, although maybe we just had to pee or something

  • So when are we getting our Ramires shirts, Jack?! Mwahaha.

Just a creative thought, given Chelsea played back-2-back 10-men game, EPL/UEFA/FIFA "will" initiate a new rule - The team who voluntarily concede a man at the start of the game and win the game, will give 4 pts.

  • Maysam

I voted for Terry ... In my opinion he was amazing .. he kept playing eventhough he picked up an injury ...
Glad to see Drogba back on score sheet
Anelka was also great, I hope he stays for one mor eseason ...

  • orthodoxyordeath

Minus the fact he got that red, Torres is finally doing something good. I have wanted to love him since we bought him, and even with that red, I can finally start doing that...

  • Mateo

    MOTM= Lampard

    joke aside 1 Ramires, 2 Mikel 3 A.Cole
