MotM Poll: Fulham 0-0 Chelsea

By: Jack | February 14th, 2011

Hey, at least this kid looks like a bargain, right? Right?

luiz2
Bob.

More disappointment at Craven Cottage as Chelsea fail to breakdown a resolute Fulham side in somewhat drab 0-0 fare on Valentine’s Day evening. Well, drab up until added time.

That’s when Petr Cech saved our collective blushes, denying Clint Dempsey from the spot after Mike Dean – more inept than our play on this day – awarded the hosts an ultra-late penalty for the slightest of nicks on Deuce from David Luiz. Bob, aside from the weirdness that was the final three minutes, was sensational. On this day, the Brazilian was our best central defender, best fullback, best defensive midfielder, best attacker – hell, best everything. Try him out at forward if the drought continues, I say.

More on the match later. Not a woeful display by any means, but that certainly is not going to cut it if we expect Champions League qualification come May.

Until then, spread the love. Or not. Whatever.

Form is temporary, class is permanent. No way Torres became shite overnight. Just play him the right way, he'll come good eventually.

Just hurts that he forced a move to a PL rival on the last day of the Jan window just when things have started to turn around and most Reds supporters sticking behind him through injury and dips in form. Latest being a 6 month dip with The Hodge as manager. Ah well. So we move on.

heres my 2cents on torres, Ancelotti has made a big mistake starting him and subbing him after an hour twice. This will increase the pressure and affect his confidence further. He needs to gradually come in from the bench and make an impact with no pressure on him also will give him time to adjust to playing the way chelsea like.

NA LISTEN MATE GET OVER IT HE IS SHIT

And to all you Kop twats who come here hoping to put salt on our wounds : Be ready for the day when 'El Nino' rapes Anfield and leaves you red twats with a football up your arse. That day will come soon.

  • ChelseaTilliDie

All you people who are labeling Torres as a 'flop' already are noobs. Even Drogba, Essien, Malouda struggled in their early days at the Bridge. It's natural for a player to lose his form and confidence sometimes...it's part of the game. Give Torres some time, he's trying hard and I'm sure he'll shine for us soon. You support a blue even when he's down, and not get on his back.

You people make me sick with your early assessments. And you call yourself Chelsea fans? Effin' glory hunters.

TIME? HOW LONG DID HE TAKE TO NET AGAINST CHELSEA ON HIS LIVERPOOOL DEBUT? TRUST ME THE GUY IS SO FRUSTRATED HE CANT PERFORM ITS ALL DOWNHILL FROM NOW ON FOR THE LADYBOY THANKS FOR BUYING ANDY CARROLL AND SUPER LUIS SUAREZ FOR US ROMAN

  • CFC

haha your just mad because he left.

  • droggles

I think we're assessing Torres too early. Rather, I hope. We saw him get into many good positions, I can count at least 4 good chances he had. And the type to player Torres is, we'd expect him to finish those.
Consider the amount of pressure he's under, and how BIG the burden on his shoulders is. It's natural for him to kind of choke under the pressure initially/get nervous and make wrong shots at goal. Yeah, he's a professional, but a human first.
So I think he'll only get better, and he should start flourishing with the Copenhagen game or maybe the game after that. Anything later, then we can start doubting him.

  • Torres is crap you paid about 30 million pounds too much for him. I've seen more commitment from a sloth. Thanks for the moola!

  • droggles

You reminded me of a joke.

    Liverpool: We want Carroll.
    Newcastle: Well ok
    Liverpool: How much?
    Newcastle: 35 million. Lol j.....
    Liverpool: Done.

  • Aj

seems like the only winner from the jan transfer window is newcastle.

  • Wow that was funny. Really got me chuckling. You know a few other things that make me laugh?

Doing the double over Chelsea's so called 'stars', seeing all you plastic flag waving, song stealing, spoilt rich boys whine about Torres and the look on Chelsea fans faces at the end of the season when Liverpool finish above them :D

For the record I'd rather have Carroll giving his all every game for 35 million then pay 50 million to watch a so called superstar look disinterested for 90 minutes. Enjoy him!

  • And who won the Double last season? Why are you even here mate?

  • CFC

Haha if you mean "giving his all" as in getting drunk in a casino and falling of the chair and getting hurt the I agree

  • droggles

I'm actually flattered how obsessed Liverfail FC 'fans' are with Chelsea. I'm beginning to like it. Side effects of success I guess. Not going 20 years without a league win helps, you know.

  • please droggles, the entire premiership knows Chelsea's living on borrowed time. Once Abramovich gets bored with his experiment Chelsea will be in the gutter.

  • real_deal

normally when you pay for a top class player and pay top dollar then you expect class from him, im sorry to say he has been poor, his touch, movement and finishing have been poor. i hope he improves, i really do then again liverpool supporters have been waiting for him to improve for the past year. Hes not been playing well for a year now and i cant see him suddenly improving and scoring goals, but the problem is not only him but the players around him, nobody is creating chances for him.

  • Aj

lol someones voted frank lampard and malouda on the poll, not sure what game they were watching..

  • Tom59warrior

Ramires and Luiz gave away a pen.
luiz was great dont get me wrong but that cock up nearly cost us a point

  • Drog

Luiz was a fantastic buy, easily MOTM , but the 50 Million man looks like "El Shevchenko II",

  • Pyro

How well did Judas Chelsea's number 9 play today? I didn't see the game.

  • MrTwister75

if your going come on here and try to make fun of people at least use proper grammar, it'd be Chelsea's Judas idiot

  • Pyro

you are the idiot. I meant Judas, Chelsea's Number 9. Because He is a judas to all the liverpool fans. Chelsea's number 9 is an apositive, It needs commas, but hey I didn't think you guys were such assholes about grammar

  • LFC

oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh use proper grammar you silly prick

  • This guy is pure entertainment. I encourage you to come around here more often. We can always use a good laugh.

  • Caleb

Ugh, MOTM is way too easy. Luiz was the best on the pitch. Our problem is that there's no competition. Maybe Cech...maybe. Essien was pathetic. Not slow, not off, just pathetic. He couldn't have started for Fulham tonight. Anelka seemingly won't play up as a striker and is starting to look disinterested and Malouda refuses to take players on. We NEED a more attacking mindset and unfortunately Ancelotti is not that kind of coach. He wasn't at Milan either. Here's the real question I have though. Does it seem like there is another serious coaching issue? We look slow, tired and our passing and shooting game is totally inaccurate. This is not what Chelsea's reputation was a few years ago. Before we were an aggressive team that would run and attack all day with incredible precision. Now? Average at best. Sorry Chels, I love you but you broke my heart this V Day

  • Susan

Luiz and Ramires were impressive, as was Cech's save, but Cech saved us the point so I had to vote for him.

  • DoOne

FERNANDO TORRES CHELSEA'S NUMBER 9 NANANANANANANANANANANANANNAANANANANANANANANANANA

  • Are Chelsea fans really that clueless that they can't even come up with their own songs?

  • arn00b

    Cole's not on the list?

  • Yeah, noticed that. Apologies. Opted not to add him, since, well, he was nowhere near the man of the match. Ha.

  • Aj

luiz no contest, the scary thing is he will only get better. giving away penalty is the best thing that could happen to him as he will only learn as it cant be easy to come from portugal and go straight into epl. But torres im afraid he doesnt even look like a 20m player, im sure sturridge would have done better in place of torres.

  • Max

I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of Torres. I think he will definitely come good for us, but it's pretty obvious (at least to me) that he's not really match fit. I think he needs more time to gel with his teammates, but he also needs more time to improve.

  • Blah

It was Luiz until the penalty, then Cech.

  • Aj

im not sure, it was more a poor penalty than a good save. also cech didnt do anyhting in whole match until then while luiz was pretty impressive throughout.

  • Good save, but poor penalty nonetheless.
