Preseason Rant: Thailand All-Stars v. Chelsea

Drogba is so fine. So fine.

Bangkok son. Our boys continue their trek through Asia today in the city of big, nasty, graphic dreams. Who do we play? A merry, talented band affectionately known as the Thailand All-Stars.

What do I know about them? Absolutely nothing.

What I do know is that Chelsea are apparently going to field a relatively strong side, with several members of said squad receiving a decent run out, i.e. more than 45 minutes. I know this because Florent Malouda told me so.

“The coach said some people will play longer this time, and I’d say that our fitness is improving all the time. We are not in our best form yet so we need these games, even if it is different conditions from what we are used to or for us to be at our best.”

These unusual conditions Flo speaks of are temperatures in excess of 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Yes, this shit will melt your face. And, considering the match goes off in the early evening, it should be nice and sticky out there. Grand.

We’ll be here from 6:45 a.m. EDT bringing you the lowdown. I reckon I might be the only Yank around here then. Whatever, it’s cool.

0-1 HT. Started well, but faded in the last 10-15. I'd say the conditions had something to do with that. Josh, Daniel, Mikel very bright.

The fact that we scored an actual goal, the one that didn't bounce off a player. Anelka looked alright at times.

That surely was a penalty? Nevertheless, we look alright. Josh is much better with a holding player behind him. Mikel looks good, Sturridge, too. Anelka showing bits of class.

We've stated this match fairly well. More energy than at any time during the opening two friendlies.

10 minutes in, and only the someone decides to shoot on goal (Anelka in this case), pretty boring stuff, and as usual, opponents looking lively.
