Quick and Dirty Preview: Chelsea v Wolves
By: jon | November 20th, 2009
Taken by me at M&T Bank Stadium. Jealous?
Alright people. Back from what felt like the longest international break in….well, ever, Chelsea will take on Wolves at the Bridge tomorrow, and will do so with what would have to be called a diminished lineup. But as we all know, one of the privileges of being Chelsea is your backups aren’t so bad.
Out: Drogs (suffering rib issues from Johnny Karate), Deco, Frank (Don’t put me in Coach again) Lampard, and Herr Ballack
In: Gael (Don’t hate me for getting us banned, guys) Kakuta, Nemanja Matic, Alex, and Fabio Borini
Projected Lineup: Now the way I do this is pick who I want out there, given the squad health and whatever else. It may not actually be that way, but this is more fun for me, and let’s you second guess and belittle my decision making abilities. And who doesn’t love that, right?
Mr. Helmet in net
J Belletti, JT, Alex, Ivanovic
Mikel
Essien Malouda
Cole
Anelka Kalou
Subs: Turnbull, Ferreira, Matic, Kakuta, Borini
Predictions: Even diminished, Chelsea has to be the big time favorite here. Not only that, but how hard is to beat a team with the lack of imagination displayed in naming your team, which resides in Wolverhampton, Wolves? Lazy.
3 nil to the Blues.

Nice pick, Jon–you were really close. I was at that game as well, but way up in the cheap seats.

A team that plays in blue, called the blues. Now that is imagination

After seeing JT celebrating when Drogba made it 2-2 at the Nou Camp in 06/07, I always thought our nickname should be the Lions. It’s a shame that Millwall, of all teams, has a claim to that. The Blues is a better nickname than the Pensioners, but I have to agree that Wolves is a better nickname.
My line-up:
Cat in the Hat
Belletti Alex JT Ash
Mikel
Essien Malouda
Joey
Anelka KalouJudging Ancelotti’s noises on TOCWS, we’re going to get a glimpse of Kakuta today. Expect Joe to be subbed at around 70 minutes. I’d like Matic to make an appearance at some point also – we need Essien for Porto and Arsenal.

Loving it…Kakuta and Matic on with more than 15 minutes to play…

Pure class, yet again. And Kakuta seems to be worth all this fuss. Seriously.

man! essien almost got his hat trick.. he really wanted it…
kakuta looks to have a bright future, he was awesome the first 10 or so minutes he was on, but then was less involved..

Woo yeah. My pre-match team selection 100% correct.

If Kalou isn’t careful, he may lose his spot as third choice striker to Kakuta.

I still can’t believe we lost to wigan.. Defoe has scored a hat-trick against them in the span of 8 minutes… those 3 points woulda provided a much nicer cushion goin into the ACN…

Yeah I couldn’t believe we could only put one past Kirkland in 90 minutes when he let in 8 goals in 45 minutes…

Gael seems to be worth all this fuss, Coley looked great once again, and the defense was hardly troubled. Also, Mikel seems to have his form back and did an excellent job controlling the midfield. The Bison was unlucky to grab his hat-trick (or perhaps a fourth).
