Rant Box: Chelsea v Everton
By: Jack | May 29th, 2009This is the big one, my friends.

FA Cup Final. At Wembley. Against Everton.
The final match of the season. The final match of Guus Hiddink’s initial tenure with the Blues.
What else do you need? How about a trophy presentation following the final whistle? Me likes.
Don’t engrave Chelsea’s name on that piece of hardware just yet, however.
Everton is a great side. No, a fantastic side. David Moyes’ has worked small miracles on Merceyside. This season alone he’s fought off a shrinking budget and numerous injuries, even pushing the Toffees into fifth place in the Premier League. Oh, and reaching a cup final, too. That’s no big deal. Really, if we weren’t playing for the cup, I’d be rooting for Everton.
Chelsea will have to be focused and in form to emerge victorious in a match that will no doubt be very tight. Expect, as always, for Frank Lampard to be at the center of what’s good for the Blues. However, Florent Malouda — who, by the way, is probably pissed about this Zhirkov business — to continue his sterling run of late with a goal.
Prediction
Like I said, this will be extremely tight. 2-1 to our Blues.
Alright, people. Let’s get up, get out and get something — a second title in three seasons.

malouda should have had one of the goals of the season so shame it didnt stand. other than that a great final, much needed after the last two. Everton tried hard but gap in class between the two sides really showed in the end. thanks to them for providing a great game though. shame about franks cringe worthy goal celebration…as usual…

Good call on the scoreline Jack. This game wasn’t nearly as tight as I had feared it would be.

Its amazing how Chelsea fans continue to whine about the referee decisions in the semi-final. Amazing.
I suggest that they frickin learn football before they bitch.
Alves-Malouda incident: Alves was clerely impeding a player’s progress, thats an INDIRECT free kick call inside the penalty box, check the FIFA rules. So the correct decision would have been to give an indirect free kick inside the penalty area. Instead, the ref gave a DIRECT free kick just outside the area. HE ACTUALLY HELPED YOU!!
Abidal-Drogba: This is a penalty, the only one.
Toure-Drogba: Toure CLEARLY got to the ball, END OF STORY, NO PENALTY.
Pique handball: The rules of the game clearly state that in order for a player to be called for a handball, he has to DELIBERATLY touch the ball with his hand or arm. Pique DID NOT deliberatly touch the ball with his hand. It would have taken incredible reflexes to get his hand out of the way. This is a possible penalty.
Eto’s handball: Utter nonsense. It hit is armpit, besides, he had his back turned to the ball. Meaning it is NOT DELIBERATE. NO PENALTY
In the end, chelsea were denied a clear penalty and a possible one. BUT, it has to be pointed out that pique’s handball and eto’s non-handball happened AFTER Abidal got wrongly sent off. So if Abidal does not get a red card like it should have been, those 2 penalty appeals DO NOT happen.
Also, in the first leg, we were denied a CLEAR penalty when bosingwa fouled henry. Had THAT PENALTY been called, we would have most likely gone into the second leg with a 1-0 lead, meaning the game completely turns into our favor, completely different scenarios happen, and those penalties do not happen.

@cule4life: i respect your research but all the chelsea fans are saying is the referee had a terrible game and some bad decisions were made, including the sending off, which ruined the game.
What fuss would have been made if it happened to Man Utd or Liverpool i wonder?
Anyway, we just won the FA Cup so happy days!

It’s Official, now Carlo Ancelotti is the head coach of Chelsea. Somehow I wish it was Rijkaard. But we shall see what he is capable of doing. Hopefully he is not another Scolari, and that we can win the Champions League.
Hurrah Ancelotti, Hurrah Chelsea!!!Posted from

We don’t need to post about the Barca game here. Not saying we shouldn’t talk about it again, but the important thing is we’ve picked up some silverware!
Well done lads, thank you Guus.Fingers crossed for Carlo. If anyone feels like taking a look at another Chelsea blog (not quite as swanky as this one), mine’s at wwww.bridgeviews.co.uk
