Rant Box: Chelsea v Ipswich

By: Jack | January 23rd, 2009

It’s another cup tie. Against lower league competition.

Should we expect a long night. I say nay.

Chelsea has finally turned the corner. That’s right, I said it. We’re about to run riot on these tricks. Word, son. Word.

Whoa. I think I was just possessed by the ghost of Kool Moe Dee. Wait, that guy’s still alive. Whatever.

Moving on. Who do you think is going to get the call today? We know EBJT is going to be resting that back, but will any of the other big guns get the night off? Somehow, I doubt it.

Let’s just hope we get to see some more of that dynamic duo, Di Santo and Stoch. And maybe Gael “Cool Cutta” Kakuta will get some minutes as well.

Ipswich are riding a pretty good run right now, unbeaten in their last five matches with three wins in that span. I expect they’ll be fairly offensive, too. We can only hope.

Anyway, let me know what you think people. Or in Special One language: Do it to me on the blog. Do it to me now (no homo).

First, if you don’t know about “no homo,” you’re an idiot. Second, if you can’t read the satirical nature of me using it then I’m sorry for you.

As for the match, did anyone see it? I’m interested in Ballack’s performance. Also, who would’ve thought we would have conceded from a set piece? Shocking.

We conceded from a set play? I thought it was open play. Anyways I’m happy with the results wouldve liked to see some of the youngsters though.

yeah, i do know what “no homo” is, but if you really understood the controversy surrounding it, you would see why it is offensive. not just that, it is annoying bc everyone knows that you are mocking IOSS, not asking for sex and i doubt anyone cares whether you are gay or not. just because you don’t find it offensive doesn’t mean that those who do are “idiots”.

This guy just doesn’t get it, does he? Shove off.

Ph0bolus, yeah we conceded from a set piece. From The Guardian: “Loose passes proliferated and ill-considered tackles ceded free-kicks. From one, David Wright curled the ball into a phalanx of static markers, its ricochet falling for Alex Bruce to shoot past Cech.”
Also, it reads as if Ipswich put us under the kosh for periods today. Looks like we’re still trying to turn the corner.

Damn..we need to tighten up those loose bolts when it comes to set pieces before we face Liverpool and Juventus…Can’t leave anything to chance especially when Gerrard and Del Piero are taking them.

Don’t forget about Amauri and his huge frame. That guy has been immense this season.

finally found highlights for this game: http://thesoccerview.blogspot.com/2009/01/chelsea-ipswich-town-31-hightlights.html

I hope our set piece defense gets in shape, and soon. The Lampard free kick was simply amazing! nice to see ballack becoming involved in a positive way again… (also good to see deco not starting). I want to see more of stoch, he really caught my eye at the end of the stoke game…

I echo ASR. It’s sorta sad to keep conceding from the same mistakes (for a couple of games now). And Lampard’s screamer was pure gold.

    Btw Jack, Malouda to Juve?

    Jack

The first half was a half of two halves. We had the first part and could have easily been 3-0 up. They had the second part. I like “phalanx of static markers, its ricochet falling for Alex Bruce to shoot past Cech.”

It was more like the ball pinging about inside a pin ball table, deflecting off the buffers!! Or in our defences case ‘duffers.’

Thx for the comments guys. electrify, who knows where Flo will end up. I rubbished that Juve rumor when it regarded Flo as the man to replace Nedved.
