Rant Box: Chelsea v Porto

By: Jack | November 24th, 2009

Let me know how you think it will go down in the Dragon’s Den while you zone out with Drogs, Akon & Co. at Drogs’ charity ball over the weekend. Peep Emmanuel Eboue’s shimmer tuxedo.

Oh, and be sure to take a moment to savor the CL departure of our good friends on Merseyside. Tear.

Chelsea wins the Group! Porto played well and were unlucky with some of their great opportunities. Chelsea had difficulty converting offensively, and were effectively stopped by Porto’s backline. Defensively they were a bit wobbly, forced to play collective defense, and allowed Porto a great few chances to score(bar, and Cech’s double save,…).
Zhirkov is no substitute for Ashley Cole defensively but offensively made great runs to support Malouda and Anelka, who were both amazing.
The game had no real enjeu to it and thus the lack of intensity from Chelsea.
The white jersey looked great, one of the best looking jerseys in Europe.
    Arsenal here We come!

Job done. I don’t think we were really pushing. Perhaps the ruthless machine has, in fact, returned.

Agreed, Jack. Chelsea looked to be playing for the draw, somewhat lucky to come away with a win. Good news is now we should see Kakuta against APOEL.

Surprised we didn’t see Joe Cole earlier, but have to say that Essien sub now seems genius. He had a big part in the one goal. A little disappointed in Drogba today, but job is done, so bring on the gooners.

Chelsea was exceedingly average, but considering that Chelsea won and Man U lost to Besiktas, in the words of Ice Cube, today was a good day.

ManU still isn’t guaranteed qualification. If wolfsburg beats them and CSKA wins by enough of a goal differential, then they both go on and ManU is out. Not Impossible…

Liverpool still isn’t mathematically out are they? They just need to pull a Spurs type victory, and have Debrecen pull a miracle victory as well…
