I believe Sahar, Sinclair, Bertrand, Woods, Di Santo, Stoch all have what it takes to get into the first team but will never be given a chance under Grant. We need someone like Wenger who will give them a chance in the first team otherwise it will be pointless keep buying all these young talents. We have a few players in the first team who are not that good like Pizarro, Shevchenko, Hilario and Sidwell. If we got rid of them we could use these youngsters in cup games like Arsenal do. We need a manager like Van Basten or Deschamps who are young and hungry.

I'd be happy to carry on listening to you talk about the names and numbers of the youth players coming through for Chelsea, and I am impressed that you actually pay attention to that kind of thing (as opposed to most of the other Chelsea fans I've met). I still have a problem believing any of them will get a shot at the first team outside of the Carling Cup (maybe). I mean, there are alot of teams with less money then Chelsea that put players out on loan, that doesn't mean they'll be any good. I mean, do you really think that Scott Sinclair has a shot of making the first team when Roman can buy an Anelka every transfer window?

KTBFFH

Keep The Blue Flag Flying High

Sahar has played for the 1st team, so has Scott Sinclair, so has Michael Woods, so has Lee Sawyer.

1st team squad numbers for the current crop of youth players

17 Scott Sinclair
30 Rhys Taylor
31 Shaun Cummings
41 Sam Hutchinson
42 Lee Sawyer

Carl Magnay who was the last football icon winner is doing well in the reserves and he is a JT in disguise.

Sam Hurrell who won the first football icon made it to the reserves... before he was released.

We got Jack Cork playing very very well at Scunthorpe United, we have got Ryan Bertrand playing very well at Norwich City (after a successful loan at Oldham Athletic).... I can carry on if you want!!

Right. Having one youth player come through (and play regularly) in a decade is poor. Sorry.

If I was a Chelsea fan I would be more then happy to buy top talent every season and not have to worry about the academy.

Honestly, it's more of a sign of the times in football that youth players don't come through as often than anything else.

Also, I have no idea what KTBFFH means. Good talk though.

come back and read the previous posts... and for your information Chelsea has spent over £5m in the last couple of years developing the youth and academy setup and lastly Chelsea's Captain John Terry has been at the club since he was 12.

KTBFFH son!!

The reason he doesn't play is because Chelsea doesn't have or need a youth development policy whatsoever.

Well unlike his unfortunate time at QPR he gets to play in EVERY Sheff Wed game in the month he is there. As for Pizarro - couldn't agree with you more.

I'm a big fan of Sahar, and I hope he gets some time in the Sheffield squad (and he certainly should), and gets back next year and takes Pizarro's worthless spot.

One of the main reason Sahar has gone to Sheff Weds is to give him match fitness. Since this season started he has hardly played - reserves or the youth team, let alone the first team.

Remember this boy is quality after all he represented his country and scored two goals as a full international.

The reason his QPR loan failed was he spent most of his time at Loftus Road recovering after having his appendix removed. When he came back to Chelsea, games for the Academy and the reserves were postponed because of the inclement UK weather... for example last Monday's reserve game against Aston Villa was postponed and this Mondays reserve game against Arsenal has been called off.... more because of the youth team's cup game at Port Vale on Tuesday night.

Chelsea must think alot of Ben to send him off up north to get him the match fitness that he needs!!

At least he can get off to Barnsley in two weeks to see the first team in action.

Roll on Sunday
