Scolari “don’t care”

By: Jack | January 13th, 2009

Uncle Phil, speaking on today’s FA Cup third-round replay at Southend, revealed Didier Drogba wouldn’t be making the trip. He also revealed he could care less about being sacked by Chelsea.

“I don’t care. If I lose my job, I have another job,” Scolari told The Sun. “Maybe tomorrow, maybe after one year or two. I’ve worked for 25 years, so no problem.

“I like Chelsea. I like Cobham, where I live, I like the school my son is at, I like my job here, the people, even the Press. It’s not a problem for me. I like every day in London.

“But if I go back to Brazil, I will like Brazil the same. When I was in Kuwait, I loved Kuwait. I had three fantastic years in Saudi Arabia. I love life, finish. If I lose or not lose my job, I will be the same.”

If this is accurate, then I say push on now. I mean, are you serious? You have the nerve — no, the audacity — to publicly state your lack of commitment to the club? That’s beyond me.

Maybe this is why the players are running around the pitch like 5-year-olds. No direction. No passion. Nothing. Great way to bring the dressing room together, too.

I trust this was taken out of context because, if not, I’ve had enough. I’ve been willing to let you slide Philly, especially during this run the likes of which we haven’t seen at Chelsea in years. Now you want to come out and basically say, “eh, it’s whatever”? That’s not gonna fly with me — or most of the supporters.

I turned off the TV after 2-0 on Sunday and watched back the replay and dear God, the last 15-20 minutes probably was heartbreaking. They didn’t even try. I don’t think his gestures and negative commentaries of our players are helping or inspiring the Blues and THIS? Wow. Hello downward spiral.

I think he cares to an extent, but I think it’s mostly the players..They seem disinterested.

I don’t think this is scolari showing lack of interest guys. I can tell he definitely loves to win, and wants to win everything. This, I believe, was just a case of him telling the media to shut up, and expressing that he doesn’t care about their constant criticism and speculation because his life doesn’t depend on keeping his job. Scolari is definitely trying the best he can to get this club back to its winning ways, and today’s performance was an excellent sign of things to hopefully come…

Completely agree with ASR. Calm down let’s give Scolari until the end of the season to turn things around and then lets see where we are.

I hate all this knee jerk reaction stuff! Fire the manager, fire the manager! it’s total fanboy bullshit!

Scolari does have the passion, he won a world cup… think how hard it is to get all those players who play for different clubs to unite and be triumphant at day’s end. Scolari is quality and we should give him the time he needs. It is upsetting that Chelsea is the only team in the top four, even top five, to switch their gaffer 5 times since the millennium. Meaning that we should follow Arsenal, Liverpool, and United’s example and give the trust to Scolari as they have done with Wenger, Ferguson, and Benitez.
It was nice to see the boys get back on track, and hopefully we will see a nice partnership between Ballack and Lampard. Also, it was nice to see Salomon get some playing time.

Hate to be the downer here but I wouldn’t take too much out of today’s win. They were actually trailing at one point. This is against a team that’s in the bottom half of the table 2 leagues down. We should’ve smoked them. We had a full world-class squad out there.

Hate to say it, but I agree with Pete. I’ll reserve judgment until I see how we handle the set piece masters at Stoke this weekend.
