Sheva, it’s been real
By: Jack | August 20th, 2008Poor Andriy Shevchenko. His London nightmare is almost over — for a season at least.
Various reports suggest Chelsea and AC MIlan are “close” to agreeing deal that would send the fleeting Ukranian back to his old home on a one-year loan.
“Shevchenko in the Rossoneri shirt? There really isn’t much more to be done,” Milan sporting director Silvano Ramaccioni told Radio Goal.
“We are close to the end of the deal and I hope that these little things that have to be fulfilled are done as soon as possible. I would be extremely delighted if Shevchenko returns to Milan and I am ready to embrace the Ukraine champion again, for us it’s about a return home.”
“Embrace the Ukraine champion.” Hilarious stuff.
The Daily Mail goes one more, suggesting Chelsea have offered to pay part of Sheva’s 5mil salary just to get him out of town. Wouldn’t surprise me, really. His biggest proponent at Chelsea, Romes, appears to be the one pushing for a move — he met with Milan president Silvio Berlusconi last week.
Not regarding Kaka? Boo.
Anyway, this is probably the best move for both parties. I have pushed for Sheva to get minutes for two seasons now, and have been promptly shot down by first, a incompetent manager, and second, a World Cup winning manager. The man deserves a fresh chance to shine. Good luck to the Sheva in Milan — if, in fact, he does leave. He has been a wonderful professional at Chelsea, and deserves success wherever he winds up.

I really feel for Sheva. World class striker, never wanted by Mourinho, or Grant, never given a chance to really settle and show what he could do in the Prem. I was half-hoping that Scolari might give him a shot though.

Now it is very likely that Sheva will go…. Sheva is a legend for AC for Ukraine for Chelsea… His best game eva??? Chelsea 4-4 Aston Villa, where he scored twice and made another…. wasn’t seen again cos of injury till his fantastic off the line clearance…
Good luck Sheva, all the best

This has been a rumor for a long time, but since Scolari doesn’t seem interested in him, it is probably for the best.
I wouldn’t mind seeing him in a 4-4-2 though.Posted from

I wish Shevchenko would stay and score goals. That was my wish when Chelsea bought him in the summer, but it just never happened. I always rooted for Sheva whenever he came on the pitch. I wish him well if he does make the loan move to Milan, and if he doesn’t I hope he scores more goals in a blue shirt..

Jon, seeing as we have quotes from Milan suits and most trusted sources (Sky) have picked up on this, I assume the story is legit. I’d think it’s just a matter of time until it’s wrapped up.

Sky says the Sheva to Milan deal is off. Suggests Chelsea wanted to make the move permanent, and Milan wavered.

I refuse to sugar coat the shevchenko situation. he’s a quality striker but only provided us glimpses of that quality in the two years he’s been in england. he’s suited for the slow build up of attack in italy, and clinical in front of net - but unfortunately you can’t just excel in one aspect of scoring in the premiership. but the one thing I respect him for is that never once did he come out to the press and complain, or start rumors, or do any of that. he stood up, took responsibility, and never muttered a word about it. that is true professionalism and while he didn’t contribute much to chelsea during his stay, I hope he scores many goals wherever he ends up.
