Who do you fancy? Pastore, Modric, Nasri etc. etc.

By: Jack | July 1st, 2011

Not exactly a heap of new news regarding the Chels over the past couple of days. Thus the lack of cutting-edge, thought-provoking material on this blog. That, or the three of us have been consumed by our full-time jobs.

nasri
Snoods.

Nevertheless, more transfer gossip continues to surface – from Lucio to Lucho and back home to Cahill and Dann. It’s insane. A small kernel of personal interest popped up today, however, one linking us with a late run at the supposedly disgruntled Arsenal creator Samir Nasri.

We are in desperate need of a creative midfielder no doubt. We’ve been linked with a gaggle of them thus far this summer. So, I’ve come to you in order to solve this conundrum. Who do you fancy?

Is it the coach’s padawan, the versatile João Moutinho? There’s also Javier Pastore, the €50 million rated maestro who, though extremely talented, cannot even break into a rather dull Argentinian midfield and is worth a fraction of that sum. Luka Modric – though news on this development has been sparse – is still amongst our targets and is a stunning talent. Yes, my mancrush lives.

Lucho Gonzalez is apparently on Villas-Boas’ radar as well. Why, I have no idea. Thiago Alcantara, the young Barcelona product, was once linked with us but now, after recently agreeing to a new contract at the Nou Camp, would appear a longshot. Shame because he is an enormous talent.

Then there is Nasri. Sky said he was on the cusp of a move to Manchester City yesterday for around £20m. They were, shockingly, wrong. That other Manchester club have been linked with the Frenchman since the beginning of the summer, and now our name is being thrown into the mix by a number of media outlets. It must be said that Nasri represents an excellent option who, though somewhat inconsistent, would, much like Modric, bring a real zeal to our attack. You would think, however, that United would be front-runners to land him if he were indeed to move. Regardless, we should at least gauge his interest in a potential move to Stamford Bridge. He could remain in London after all.

So, there’s a brief look at some of the candidates. Upgrading our wing play is obviously a must this summer, but creative midfield remains a top priority. There are a number of options, as you can see, and we have money to burn. Who do you prefer then? Let us know.

I went with Modric, partly cause i think he can work on the right, will feed Torres and create assists more than goals, which we hope will be polished off by our new strike force(s), and Tottenham play a style more like Chelsea than Arsenal's style.

I think Nasri really just wants a huge pay hike, and if we bought him all the dirty gooner fans would be crying for the next 5 years about how we steal their players and are buying their success like A. Cole(altho i dont know what successes they are speaking of)

Pastore's 45 mill buyout is a bit steep for a player iunproven in the EPL

Lucho is on the wrong side of 25 yrs old

Moutinho is good, but Modric or Nasri are better

Thiago would not be, in my opinion, a suitable creative force capable of regular first-team play, maybe a bit of a longer-term investment, but the word "Youth" and Chelsea tends to incite disaster and cheap sell-ons to Hamburg

    JAck Wilshere.......lol

  • JG

Pastore can't get in to the Argentine XI because the coach is an idiot. Yesterday's draw with Bolivia (imagine Chelsea drawing at home to Newcastle. Wait.) proved that Argentine need a creative enganche to alternate with Messi. He would be good for your lot, and we get to keep that greedy Nasri. Good times.

how about lucas piazon the so called new kaka ..since we should focus on youth.annyone???JACK???

  • Piazon looks a real talent, no question, but to expect him, at his age, to come straight into a new country, into a new team, and contribute at an elite level is unrealistic. He needs time and maturation.

  • Steven

    YES

  • Four write-in votes for Sneijder. Probably should have included him in the poll, but we have't been linked with him since early June so I figure that rumor is done and dusted. Some of the better write-ins: Glen Hoddle, your mum, fuck off and you are chav cunts. Classy.

  • The slightest hint of a Spurs player sends their supporters into a tailspin. Quite entertaining.

  • CharlieFineman

They seem to be very protective of their team, because the loss of Modric might send them towards the very bottom.

  • Gmail

Modric is crap, goes missing in big games, remember RM. he doesnt have a good assist record in premiership. Pastore had a good season in beginning but tailed off in 2nd half of season like bale etc. sanchez and nasri are wingers not playmakers. All would be risks, better to go with youth like josh and develop. sturridge instead of falcao, neymar etc

need to start thinking of uefa fair play rules.

  • Tony

You American? Assist? Americans use assist as records becuse they are too dumb to appreciate the game. I don't care about assist records. BTW, Spurs strikers kept missing the net all season and there4 Modric's assist record sucks. I don't know if Modric got an assist on the Crouch goal against AC Milan. That was brilliant pass to Lennon. Had he held on to the ball 1/10th second, the two AC defenders would have turned and Lennon wouldn't have a free ride. One flip of the ball to send Lennon on full stride - brilliant like the Kaiser.

  • Modric is crap? 245 votes say otherwise man. As for Nasri, he's a creative midfielder who can play on the wing. His rough patch last season coincides with his forced shift out wide. Sanchez, meanwhile, is a winger who can play pretty much anywhere along the front, including in the hole.

  • coys

all three players mentioned are hugely talented. anyone of them would much enhance the chance chelsea winning the league.

i am a spurs fan and i d love Modric to never move away from WHL.
But hes one little special player i will alway have a soft spot for him wherever he goes.
been a spurs since 1994 and gotta say Modric is the most beautiful playmaker i ve seen.

    even ahead of Ginola.

  • DAVspurs

COYS I have supported Spurs for 50 years and Modders is very very good players but our states tell a different tale and we create more when Huddelstone plays and we win more.

  • yidarmy

lol chelsea mugs wanting our players. your a bull shit club with bull shit fans and no history.
U can keep dreaming about modric and bale you got no chance of getting them. u lot are on a downward spiral we will see this season wat happens. Chelsea built on money and ur still a shite side with aging players. spurs got the team for the future, within 2 years chelski will b back where they belong

  • Yoshi

You'll always be a mid-table team at best so just deal with it. Your champions league qualification last season was just a fluke. You're just grumpy coz we got the cash and you don't. And you know and we know that the Yid Army would love to suck either Roman's or Sheikh Mansour's cock for a class player or two!

Get your frustrated cunt out of here and never return.

  • Ray

We might have no history (which is totally incorrect btw) ,but, just  wait till we change your team's geography in this transfer season ;)

  • suckmydick

enjoy the europa league yiddos!! you'll never gonna get any trophies losers!

  • Nymphetaminez

Did you love that match when we scored a goal when the ball didn't cross the line, I was laughing so much at the sad Yiddo fans. You're club relies on 2 players, you have no depth, with-out them you're a mid-league team at best. I hope your players enjoy Europa next season. History means fuck all in football. I'd rather celebrate the titles we're winning now then just think in the past. Go back to you're mediocre club.

  • RH

    Modric isn't for sale
Nasri isn't for sale (not to your lot anyway)
Thiago isn't for sale (just signed a new contract)
Pastore wants to stay in Italy
Gonzalez is a tennis player ain't he?  (who cares???)
Moutinho - that's you man - 75m and he yours!!

  • TommyHarmer

Oh gosh - we've got LOADS of money (actually some rich Russian crook has) so we can buy ANYONE we want!!!!!

Actually, despite your usual tapping up of agents, Modric id not for sale, even at a real price.

  • Oh the irony.

  • Yoshi

    Sneijder. lol

  • Jeffvosper

The question should read who can chelski get? You obviously think that chelski can have who they want, not true. as is your Nasri snood comment, do you honestly believe that wearing a snood makes a player any the less skillful? You should join the sky sports news team they are always on the lookout for "drama queens!"

  • Sensitive boy.

  • ajetomobi gbenga

Modric is the best creative mildfilder in premiership.Chelsea should go for him

  • Ray

Did you forget someone named Francesc?

  • Yoshi

What's the use of getting Cesc? Don't want his 'will he/won't he go to Barca saga to hit the Bridge'. Avoid him at all costs!

  • Buzzi

I don't think he was saying to get him, just arguing the point of calling Modric the best playmaker in the EPL.

  • Harold

    Personally I prefer women!

  • Gary

I think Nasri and Pastore are more attacking than
Modric, they would score more often than he. But I would prefer Modric over
both and all the others because he is the most creative. He really knows how to
read a game and set others up. This is what Chelsea need most.

  • Patrick Munyami

Please Mr Wenger, I feel the frustrations just like you do, Now if Nasri is just being stubborn with not signing his contract, please release him. These Guys should not hold the Club at ransom, I support you on this. We can move on without them, Arsenal will be Arsenal. Let no one Fool you Arsene, Fabs, Nasri, Clichy,Bendtner, name it. I say, again no one is Bigger than the CLUB. Arsenal will be . And regardless of WHO we have as Players, i will continue supporting ARSENAL yes ARSENAL. I will never support man-u even if Fabs, or Nasri went there. FINAL!!

  • Um, I think you're looking for the Arsenal Offside. It's three doors down.

  • Nymphetaminez

Toni Kroos, Bayern Munich player. Personally I don't think we need one, Slowly Bring McEachran into the squad, we don't need to be spending big on players that we don't need, especially with the fair play rules coming into play, although I expect Rom to have a way round it considering he splashed out 71 mill in Jan. What we need is width.

  • Ironballoon

Dumbass fans only know about popular players and those mentioned in the articles and so know no one else that has any talent. These are 3 of very under rated players tat Chelsea should seriously consider - Charles N'Zogbia (Wigan), Fefferson Farfan (Schalke) & Sebastien Giovinco (Parma).

  • Your friend "Fefferson" is the most inconsistent player in the Bundesliga. He's been brilliant but those performances are coupled with long spells where he goes completely absent. Take your shitstorm of Chelsea bashing elsewhere. WANKER

  • Wait. So we're dumbass fans because we suggested players the club has actually been linked with? You then go on to suggest three players who aren't even creative midfielders, and a Fefferson. Alright.

  • Fefferson had me lol'n

  • Giovinco is a creative midfielder...dumbass,

  • SuckALEX

    winger.. dumbass

  • Raynovo88

    can play both....dumbasses.lol

  • S.Giovinco

Hey! I'm Sebastian Giovinco. Uhhh...Y are you talking about me? I'm happy where I am. And you're all wrong - I only love playing in the 'woman on top' position.

  • ph0bolus

Voted Modric on the offchance that Bale will follow him to the bridge.

  • Yeah, sure. If you pay us £100m minimum...mug.

  • MSD

£100m is a huge sum, but not enough if they ain't for sale!

  • A vote for Josh McEachran. I love it, but can't see it happening. Still reckon he's heading out on loan to a Prem team this term.

  • Mateo

McEachran & Kakuta + ONE defensive midfielder. nuffsaid
