Well the results so far do back ur views... but then u must know that Drogba is not the real Drogba right now... He is not in his prime... Neither was he while playing against Cluj...He was gradually coming back (struggling tho') but then the injury again...Just give him some time and he will be back...

Hello Jack,
I am new to the offside, and I am a big Chelsea fan. You make some good points, and yes I do agree that the combination of Malouda, Joe Cole, and Anelka was deadly were regarding many aspects of their game, and I also concur with your opinion claiming that the afore mentioned formation has been triggering goals for Chelsea and has been beneficial in our favor, but I would like to say that a player like Drogba might not be as consistent as he was in 04/05 or 05/06 where he scored approximately 50 goals all together; however, he does perform when we most need him (His two goals against Arsenal last season, which for the first time in the season we were able to accumulate the same amount of points like Manchester United. Or his two goals during the Champions League against Liverpool, earning our first ever Champions League final.
Moreover, the reason a player like Anelka, or as Parth earlier mention Amr Zaki (please not that I am a fellow Egyptian) succeed with mid-table teams such as Bolton and Wigan is because they were/are considered the stars and target men of their squads.
Personally Jack, I do not think that we, as Chelsea fans, should criticize Drogba so early in the season. If Anelka just happens to earn the first-team spot over Drogba, this will just motivate him to perform especially at what he does best.
Furthermore, Chelsea does not need to be part of the mid-season transfers. The roster is perfect the way it is. We have already replaced Essien with Mineiro, who I haven't seen play until this day. Di Santo is perfectly capable of providing goals, as we saw from his reserve and pre-season appearances, so he can partner up with Anelka or even be that lone striker. Also, we all have seen both Joe Cole and Kalou perform up top, and despite their trade as wingers, I am more than confident in them. Anyways, we will see what Scolari pulls out of his sleeves. Ultimately, I am more than satisfied on how Chelsea is performing at the moment, but Drogba will always be an essential in the starting eleven, for me at least.
Just my 2 cents. =)

Never said sell. In fact, I said we would eventually need him this year: "There’s no doubt we’ll need him eventually, I won’t dispute that. But, right now, we’re just fine without the large Ivorian tantrum unleasher."

I agree that drogba is a fine point man, and that he tends to influence chelsea to play more directly. one of lampard's favorite passes is a long ball to the chest of drogba. when drgoba receives those kind of passes, the defense closes on him which allows for lampard to get into and around the penalty area where he is so lethal.

the only reason I disagree with getting rid of him is because le sulk is not nearly as clinical in front of net as drogba. 99% of the time if drogba gets a clean shot he'll net it. he's clinical in front of the wood work, and a natural predator for goals. le sulk....isn't. and until we find a suitable replacement - a forward who is capable of scoring 20-25 goals in the premiership consistently, I wouldn't advocate letting drogba leave/selling him.

Dave, good to see you back. Though I don't feel the same about Jose, I know where you're coming from.

Kakraba, what the hell are you rambling on about? Your reasoning for why my article is rubbish is, ironically, rubbish. You don't make any direct points regarding the article. Second, if you had actually read it, you would notice that it points out that it's our current style of play that doesn't suit Drogba; not the man's form. End of discussion.

Kakraba-- the last few lines of your response sound a bit too threatening. Let the man have and express his opinions.

Hey Jack, I know I'm a bit of a stranger around these parts recently, and my message is off-topic, but I've just finished seeing some photos of Mourinho palling around with his new teammates, and I can't help but feel the jilted lover. It's like when you've gotten over that really beautiful girl with whom you split badly and are now with a girl who's much better for you, spiritually and mentally, but still hate to come across news of them doing so well. Sigh...

Anyway, it's been a brilliant season so far, and if I weren't in Europe currently these international breaks would ruin me. Cheers.

I think your article was written with malice.Drogba hasn't attained match fitness yet and that's the first point you should know.Second, don't ever compare the way Villa played to Cluj.Cluj show that they studied our game and were too defensive. To them,a draw was enough although they were playing at home.I think you need to study Drogba and Anelka very well before you come out with such rubbish next time. We're praying that Drogba should hit his form again and that will make us devastating. Some of us are getting disappointed in the silent assassin,Nico. He isn't proving himself as the striker we knew and admired. He labored too much to score the Villa goal.Don't ever make the mistake of comparing the two again.Your article,if not malicious,is rubbish.
