1994 Revisited!!!
By: Andy | May 18th, 2007
This may come as a surprise to most of you, but tomorrow’s Cup Final will be the first I have attended as a supporter despite all my years (41) of supporting Chelsea Football Club and despite the USA flag appearing every time I post or comment I DO live in the UK (SE London to be precise, and I DO go to matches, not as many as I would like, but I DO go).
For the final in 1967 against Tottenham my parents decided I was too young to go, against Leeds in 1970 I was ushered on a school holiday to Majorca (fortunately I was back in good old blighty for the replay and I was STILL too young to travel to Old Trafford), in 1997 I couldn’t get tickets nor could I get tickets for the last Wembley final in 2000, although I was there for the last Community Shield game ironically against Man Utd, which Chelsea won and Roy Keane got himself sent off.
In 1972 I was lucky enough to go to the League Cup final when Chelsea lost to Stoke City - the final that was tagged the ‘George Eastham’ final
For the 1994 FA Cup final against Man Utd in the days of Cantona, Hughes, McClair etc, I did get inside Wembley and I did get to watch the game, but I didn’t get a ticket. There was a scam going on with a few of the so-called ’security companies’ who were selling slots to work as a steward for the duration of the game.
For a price, you had to work three hours before kick-off in an allocated area and then for your money you were taken up to the centre ring of the stadium to sit on a cold and wet step whilst ‘pretending’ to control the crowd in your immediate area and allowed to watch the game. I have to admit the view I had of the game was spot on. I got my money’s worth despite being deployed amongst the Man Utd fans and Chelsea losing 4-0. A result I still think today was harsh on the Blue boys no thanks to the ref, a certain Mr David Elleray.
Ever since Chelsea reached this year’s final I have waited with expectation to visit the new Wembley. I am more looking forward to the occasion rather than the game and even now whilst writing this I am still in awe that I am going to the ‘New’ Wembley.
Don’t get me wrong. I am desperate for Chelsea to win the FA Cup, but for me it will not be a disaster if Man Utd prevail and acheive the ‘double.’
Its the occasion I have more interest in, but I am sure and I know once I am inside the Stadium up in the fourth tier wearing my blue shirt with pride and ‘Since 66′ on the back, I will be supporting the team and club as I always do and I always have!!!
COME ON CHELSEA

You are either taking the piss or you need to go to the opticians - SINCE 66 to 2007 = 41 YEARS!!!!
But you probably wasn’t even born b4 1994 or can you even remember it?!?!?!
So dont ask stupid questions Yank boy - despite the fact you made the trip back to sheep shagging country!!!!

It’s just too bad they don’t give out awards for years being a fan - then surely you’d win the gold. Probably the silver for me - but I’m ok with that. Yank boy? Very creative mate! Trust me — my quality of life over here is much better than Ingerland. Wouldn’t change a thing. I’d rather be a taff/yank than English any day. Enjoy your “double”. I’ll enjoy being League Champions. Have a good Summer.

And the reason I’m here is my hot American wife. Life is good.

Well as I married a Chelsea fan - life is good too - YANK/SHEEP SHAGGING BOY!!
Enjoy the Premiership title - its only on loan AND WE WON THE DOUBLE, WE WON THE DOUBLE, WE WON DOUBLE
Trust SAF - Now all of a sudden your players were ‘tired’ - awwwww bless!!!

Let’s be honest for a minute — considering United have won NINE Premiership titles to Chelsea’s TWO, it’d be fairer to say that you’ve loaned it from us for a couple of years. For some reason, I always thought winning “the double” meant League and FA Cup. Has this changed since I abandoned my flock of sheep for the U S of A? I don’t believe it has. You did win a double. But not THE double. There is a difference. “Tin Pot Double” would perhaps be more accurate for yours.

The Carling Cup maybe tin pot but it is still a major trophy which Chelsea went out to win unlike Arsenal and Man Utd, but dont abuse the greatest cup competition in the world as your fellow supporters did yesterday.
Yes we won the English Domestic Cup double so what!!!
You won the title, and yes I appreciate you have won nine Premiership titles.. you have to appreciate that every season I have supported Chelsea (SINCE 1966) I didnt think we would be good enough to win a title until Jose came along. To be honest with you, had Ranieri stayed another year he would have won it.
When I was walking out of Wembley yesterday Man Utd fans were ’shitting’ on the FA Cup saying it was a tin pot trophy, the same trophy that saved Sir Alex’s job b4 the titles came along. I kid you not!!!

Abusing the FA Cup is a bit silly. There’s no doubt that Fergie would have been out had we not won it in ‘90.

I don’t think it really has too much to do about jose or ranieri for that matter.
Despite how good arsenal, manchester united and liverpool may be….a few billion pounds is always going to make stiff competition. You didn’t win the first season as you were gelling…how many players did you buy that year???
Now united have taken back the crown! I’m pretty sure that if it hadn’t been for Mr Roman Abramovich, then you would still be enjoying fighting spurs for 2nd best london team.
By the way, if you two wanted to argue, could you please do so in an adult fashion. Sheep shagger and yank boy are childish insults. You need to grow up!

Only Man Utd fans abused the FA Cup and its tradition - because Man Utd didn’t win it… simple really.
Drabik - Arsenal and Liverpool domestically were crap this season - by the sounds of it Benitez is gonna ‘buy’ the title next season, judging reports saying he is going to get millions to spend from tow very rich Americans. Had Ranieri satyed one more year I have no doubts he would have won the title!!
United over the season were the better team that there is no doubt, as for fighting Spurs for London’s 2nd best team - you are having a laugh!!!
Insults - friendly banter LOL
Insults are expletives that cannot be published here!! and BTW Nicholas ‘never’ sent one back, so I will now depart and ‘grow up!!’
