Sad reality. Sometimes (or many times) best teams don’t win the competitions.

it’s funny how both chelsea fans and haters agree that the same images (ballack’s brain exploding above, drogba flipping off the world) perfectly summarize the club and their reaction to being eliminated. i guess i shouldn’t be surprised by the fans’ reaction–like attracts like and all that, so why would anyone expect class from the supporters of a team of ballacks and drogbas? who else BUT the jacks of the world end up cheering for chelsea?

Very Much Indeed! Shame on UEFA ,Tom Ovrebo, and Barca too! Hurrah Chelsea, Hurrah Jack, Hurrah Chelsea!!!
What a memorable season it has been! Hurrah Hiddink!
We were with absolute mathematical certainty better than the now crowned, UEFA abetted, so called “Champions of Europe”.
Hurrah CHELSEA CHELSEA CHELSEA CHELSEA CHELSEA CHELSEA!!!

spot on jack. we were better than barcelona over our two legs regardless of how we approached the matches. an injustice which has ruined the competition this season and im sure barcelona fans who are honest with themselves will admit they didnt really deserve to be there..

i have to admit barca played A LOT better in the final against man u than they did against us in the semis. im sure we would have toppled the mancs. we played them off the pitch without scoring the winner this time last year. theres always next season i guess.. go blues!!

gorilla.. are you saying a defensive team has never won or will win the champions league? because thats what your last comment is implying.. time to get a clue mate.

You guys are still whining about this? If you knew how to score goals from open play instead of looking for penalties and (unwarranted) reds, you might’ve been in the final.

Too bad, move on with your lives.

no zach, what gorilla is “implying” is that you need less people playing more quality defense rather than just 10 ppl solely committed to defense. for example, catenaccio is highly defensive but not with 10 players all in defense. if you’re going to argue against someone’s point, make sure you actually read his full comment.

People are hilarious; exactly why I made this post.

What’s even funnier, however, is how many Chelsea haters come out of the woodwork to rampage us on our own blog. You hardly ever see us — me, never — on other blogs spitting bile. And people want to talk about class.

There are a lot of very uninformed people out there that think anything less than the Barca way is not football. We play defense, we do it unapologetically and we do it well. We beat Barca, but not a blind or biased ref. That’s it and that’s all.

Lol Jack…you showed some class…you and your team too…

Better than Barca???How???You didnt win against Barca…

PS:try to play some football next time, not …hmm…what is that sport calling with the full team defendind across the “box”???ooo….HANDBALL

Open your eyes FWEMBT:Anything else than Chelsea played with Barca is football…in case you forgot what I wrote upper:Chelsea played HANDBALL…

dont blame on ref…Abidal was sent out..there was no penalty on Henry…or you didnt see that???What about a yellow card on Drogba for keep diving in the box???What about Chelsea’s non goal some years ago in CL when the ball didnt actually crossed the line…I bet you werent upset that time…

If you were better…you should have been at Rome, not at home….

Call it what you want, Barca couldn’t solve it. Only a willfully ignorant ref kept us out of the CL Final, so I will blame him. Abidal’s red had no impact on the game and Henry’s penalty claim was debatable. Ovrebo failed to give Chelsea two clear cut penalties, everyone recognizes that.

I don’t care what the rest of the world thinks of Chelsea football, we get results. Call it handball, call it parking the bus, call it going to church or baking a pie. It’s tactics and we win. If you can’t handle that stay off the Chelsea Offside.

Now I’m not by any strech of the imagination a Chelsea fan but there are a couple of points made here that I absolutely agree with.

Chelsea were without a doubt the better team over the two legs. Obviously the Barca fans dont understand that professional football is a business, not a show. Chelsea knew what was the best way to get past Barca, to play an effective defense consisting of pressing up forward, tightening the midfield and not making mistakes in the backine, something they managed to do for 179 minutes.

Truth is that if it wasn’t for Essien’s uncharactaristic blunder which resulted in Iniesta’s well taken, if a bit lucky, goal, Chelsea would have taken on Man United in the final (United would have won but thats a different arguement :) ) Something the Barca fans know very well. I always hate arguing about a referee’s decisions. You can argue about over even the most obvious bookings or penalties till the sun rises.

Did Chelsea deserve the final? Yes. Does it matter now? No.

lol, I honestly can’t let you guys live on like this. Maybe it’s a personal flaw, but you guys have to be honest about this: if the referees across both legs had been perfect, then Henry would have gotten a penalty in the first leg and Ballack would have had a handball penalty against him 4 minutes into the second leg. Then we would have been 2-0 with Chelsea needing three goals to win.

You guys managed one wondergoal against us in 180 minutes. No chance you make three.

Chelsea did know how to play against us, I’ll give them that. But you also went for defense when you were a goal and a man up, by substituting Belleti for Drogba. So tactically, Guus was both brilliant and stupid.

    Enjoy the FA Cup.
