Community Shield: Chelsea v Man Utd

This blog has been a bit quiet since Chelsea’s last friendly against Brondby on Tuesday evening and thanks to a Didier double Chelsea won 2-0.

I have been away on business for the last few days – well after all I don’t get paid for writing this blog – I do it for love!!

Anyway if there is a generous benefactor that would love to get me out of my normal working life and wants to ‘pay’ for me to sit in front of a keyboard for the rest of my days, churning out stuff about the club I love and love passionately, then let me know!!

Whilst I was away I heard that ‘glass ankles’ (Arjen Robben) was on his way to Real Madrid and that Daniel Alves was finally coming to the Bridge. After arriving home yesterday evening suffering from a TEN hour road journey, I couldn’t be ‘arsed’ to check out the latest news. Instead I woke up this morning to the fact that Alves hasn’t come and Real Madrid have offered £27m for BOTH Robben and Ballack.

Let them both go I say. Robben’s first Chelsea season was sensational, since then he seems to have taken the whole Chelsea family for granted and has played when he has wanted to play. Even Jose has said before that Robben takes time to heal longer from injuries than the rest of his team mates. What does that tell you?

And if it is true about Jose’s plan for 4-3-3 where does Ballack fit in? Even if Jose goes 4-4-2 with midfield wingers, give me Essien and Lampard as the midfield two anyday!! Or LOL rotate Ballack in there and lets see him work eheheheheh!!

Enough of that. Sunday is Community Shield day, Chelsea take on the Champions Man Utd and only three months ago, Chelsea lifted the FA Cup against the same team the game sealed by a Drogba strike with only a few minutes remaining on the extra time clock.

It would be nice to lift the first trophy of the season, but a defeat isn’t the end of the world. However getting ‘first blood’ against the Champions would show the men from Old Trafford Chelsea’s intent for regaining the Premiership title in the forthcoming season.

Even though Liverpool beat us in last season’s Community Shield, it didn’t mean anything as we finished above them in the League like we always have in recent years and we will continue to do so in years to come.

Barring any last minute injuries I reckon Chelsea’s team may start something like this:

Cech, Ferriera, Terry (c), Carvalho, A Cole, Makelele, Lampard, Essien, Wright-Phillips, Drogba, J Cole

My main interest however is the first game against Birmingham City in a week’s time, its a game where if Chelsea remain unbeaten they become the record holders for the longest undefeated home record in the League and take the record away from Liverpool. What an incentive!!

Secondly for the season itself. GIVE ME THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!!!

Yeah Andy, loss in CS is not the end of world. But blues should get the season underway with the win in curtain raiser.
Frankly speaking, now gaffer should let Robben go. He seems to have lost his motivation due to money factor. Also the media is reporting everyday abt his possible move. I dont think that he is irreplaceable. Sinclair can easily replace Robben. He is young and has same pace as Robben. And he wont mind sitting on bench for this season.
As far as ballack goes I think he should be sold at any price. Blues have too many cnetral midfield players. Diarra is creating lot of noise for 1st team experience. He has even indicated for his wish move to arsenal. If Ballack goes then it he can be convinced to stay. He is real gem and can be next maka.
Last I read that real are ready to pay arnd 28M GBP for this midfield duo. Jose should blindly accept this offer. Squad has enough depth in midfield.

Try telling Chelsea fans around the world that a defeat on Sunday IS NOT the end of the world… after all it is just a ‘friendly.’ A defeat against Birmingham City next Sunday WOULD be a day to slit your throat or wrists!!!

    Hey Andy…

    It’s been awhile!

Everything fine in Los Angeles…now we have BECKAM with L.A. Galaxy… Sheva back to England… now here is a question for you. I will appreciate your response.

Should Andriy Shevchenko return to AC Milan or remain with FC Chelsea?

Alrite Anna, Nice to hear from you again, hope you are well.
My feeling on The Shev is this. Its eight days to go till the Premiership transfer window closes and although Sheva has been injured so far, he played for nearly an hour for the Ukraine on Wednesday night, my feeling is that if Sheva doesn’t produce the 2nd season form (which is expected now at least from the critics and NOT from the fans) then I believe he will go whether its back to AC… or?

Chelsea fans love Sheva. Although he scored 14 goals last season, he is loved because of his name and the work he does on the pitch other than scoring goals – I would hate to see him leave except for retiring from football entirely – Chelsea fans LOVE him and he LOVES Chelsea fans!!!
