MotM Poll: Newcastle 0-3 Chelsea

By: Jack | December 3rd, 2011

Chelsea score a vital three points away to Newcastle in a match that was, well, fucking insane. I mean, Salomon Kalou played – clearly at the suggestion of Devin – and even contrived to score the pivotal second. Yes, it was that bizarre of a day.

Um, yeah. I really don’t know what to say about that. If you have any suggestions for how we should proceed with our match recap, please feel free to leave them in the comments section.

Anyway. It’s a win, and I’ll take them however they come. At times we were a shambles, other times we were irresistible. In the end, it was probably just about a deserved result. Sure, Bob – who somehow managed to recover from his first-half shocker – could’ve been issued a red card for his positioning nightmare early on, but even with that being said, I still think we shaved it on the run of play. And, you know, I think Demba Ba might have been offside in the lead-up to that incident. Whatever, it doesn’t matter either way.

I must also add that that final scoreline is harsh on Newcastle. Another fine showing from the Toon, particularly Tim Krul who must’ve denied Danny Sturridge on 46 separate occasions. As someone said on my liveblog, the Dutchman has certainly earned a pay hike based on his incredible form thus far this season. Ryan Taylor, meanwhile, was probably poorer than Bob – and that’s saying something. How many times did Studge roast him? I lost count at 15.

Moving on to more positive aspects. It’s a win. Yes, I said that already. Say it with me. It feels mighty good doesn’t it? This could be the kind of result that serves as our much-needed kick start. It couldn’t have come at a better time, either, what with our crunch Champions League group tie with Valencia arriving in three days. It really is a massive boost.

That’s it for now. We’ll be back with a full review later on. Until then, have a vote in our man of the match poll (plenty of deserving lads in there) and leave us a comment on the match. Carefree bitches.

  • Voted for Danny, that kid brings youthful spunk and life to the front that we haven't seen in a long time. He wants it.

  • iakobou

Sturridge FTW. Terry next best. Mata third.

  • Maysam

AVB can be MoM specially because of his words with Luiz in half-time. Luiz completely changed. He did not become great, still problem with positioning and closing down but he improved a lot

  • Maysam

    Terry, without any doubt.
I just want to say "FUCK YOU Mac Manaman". He did not even mention one positive point about Chelsea in the whole match on ESPN2

  • Wayne

HAHA i know he keep criticizing the team. He was a Liverpool player before so....

  • without the Drogs today, our possession stat today would read something like: Newcastle 90 chelsea 10. The man won everything in the air and held the play up like a fucking Panzer tank. a bit of regression in the way we played through him so much, but it was effective. well done to the old boy. also a shout to EBJT you'd have to shoot the man to get him to leave the pitch through injury.

  • Mateo

Its like he has a ball magnet on his chest (that sounded really gay)

  • pretty gay, but no less true. I'd like to see that on a shirt. maybe from who are ya designs or something.

  • Mateo

Mata was amazing, and i also think Raul did a great job when he came in. great game, just what we needed before facing Valencia and City

  • Chenlsea

Oriol is amazing. Never Concede a foul within 40 yard, unlike Mikel will concede at least three free kicks a game. Oriol is fast and linking up great.

  • I like Mikel, but Oriol is sensational.

  • ChelseaDC

Great ability to move the ball quickly. He's making good decisions and then acting on them, it really keeps the play moving. And on the other side, smart defense and no pool tackles.

Watching Mata and Romeu gives you a good sense for the type of player that AVB (hopefully) will bring to Chelsea. I love the direction (I hope) we are headed.

  • MikeyF

Mata-Ramires-Romeu-Sturridge-Luiz... This is a very strong core for the future Chelsea. Luiz will learn to calm himself. If we add someone like Hazard to the mix, we'll be sure to threaten in PL and CL for years to come.

  • ChelseaDC

Tough call on MOTM. Everything Mata does feels like gold. Terry with a solid defensive effort. Romeu is very quietly doing an incredible job. I'd also think about voting for the crossbar, which certainly played great for us today.

  • Spot on, sir. Throw Danny into the mix as well, even if he was massively wasteful.
