Rant Box: One down…
By: Jack | December 27th, 2008One fellow London club to go.
Chelsea opened the holiday fixture backup with an efficient, if not spectacular, 2-0 win over West Brom at Stamford Bridge. The Blues close out this merry time of year with an away match with Fulham. An easy task this is not.

The Cottagers are riding a run of eight games unbeaten (yes, seriously), and have only allowed five goals since October. That’s crazy, but no doubt impressive.
Fulham’s home performances has been solid so far this season. Chelsea’s away form has been even better. Something, thus, must give.
I expect a tight affair at Craven Cottage. Chelsea will certainly benefit from the possible absences of midfielder Jimmy Bullard and defender Brede Hangeland from the Fulham lineup. The Blues will continue with the same XI that dismissed Albion I would assume.
No Deco = success, I’d say.
As always, keep me posted on your musings before, during and after the match right here.

In Fulham, Gera is also ruled out because of injury.

great game by Lampard… I felt like JT woulda dealt with both of those free kicks in, really missed his presence today. Really need to stop playing Deco, gives the ball away and his corner kicks are horrible… Really depressing; we’re practically 3rd now if ManU win their 3 games in hand. I miss the Morinho resolve…

I’m finally fed up with Scolari. JCole off and Deco the terrible left on??? Garbage.

Ahh..Another disappointing one today. I only saw the first 30 minutes of it and was pissed to leave seeing Fulham up 1-0. IMO Joe Cole is only good in the beginning of a match or if just brought on…He usually fades in the 2nd half. Agree with everyone about Deco though. He’s just getting too old and can’t keep up with the pace of everyone Ballack is getting in that boat also.

While Deco did seem very out of his depth Sunday, the reason Fulham even scored was because of poor defending on set pieces.
And the defensive duo of Alex and Ivanovic were not exactly spectacular. There was one particular time where there lack of understanding of each other was particularly evident where both thought the other was going to play a free ball and nearly left it for a Fulham player.
I think above all, this team desperately needs Terry and Carvalho back together on the field.
