Rant Box: Chelsea v Blackburn
By: Jack | November 8th, 2008
Blackburn, prepare for a backlash of epic proportions. Chelsea, coming off an embarrassing performance in a
3-1 loss to Roma midweek, travel to Ewood Park to face Rovers today.
This match pits the league’s best offense (Chelsea, with a plus-23 goal differential) versus the worst defense (Blackburn, minus-7). The Drogs could be in line for a return to the starting XI, though I expect Anelka — and his eight league goals – to be in from the opening.
Sunday also represents Uncle Phil’s 60th birthday. Nothing like a beating to celebrate your born day, I say.
So, let me know what you’re thinking before, during and after the match right here. Cheers.

I predict a 2-0 score line.Rovers will be tough but will soon be forced to sit back. What people dont understand is that mineiro was brought in to allow more options in midfielder possibly allowing mikel(originally an attacking midfielder) to move more up front not to replace him. Moving on i really feel kalou can be our own robinho if groomed right. He has the nice touches, pace and a few dribbles(and robi’s haircuts) though needs help on his shootin n passing.he always scuffs his shots. Scolari should work with him.craft him. To give him the confidence and arrogance to shoot and take on defenders.theyre the same age, buildt.lets make our own robben/ronaldo/robinho in him!

Do you guys still insist we need another striker? I think Anelka’s performance tonight speaks for itself.

we have to see how he does against bigger teams when possesion is scarce and the the pressure is on

Actually I am going to have to disagree with you Craig,
It is games like these that determine the champion. We only face three BIG teams (of our caliber) throughout the season, while it is matches versus middle and lower table teams that make up the majority of the team’s points. For example if t wasn’t for a ties with Wigan, Everton, Tottenham, and Aston Villa we would have been crowned as champions.Posted from

Yes, we still need a striker … and winger. I’m with Craig; just look at how we’ve played against top clubs in Europe. We’ve rarely looked threatening in front of goal. Anelka has largely been anonymous in those matches, even against Roma & Tottenham (?!). And, with Drogs lacking real form, we need to boost our ranks.

Well both against Roma and Tottenham the whole team was underperforming, so you can’t just blame Anelka. Guys what happened to appreciating the players we have. We have an amazing squad, and after being with Chelsea through their ups and downs I want all you “Chelsea fans” to know this is as good as it gets. Look at a team like Manchester United. They don’t have a good Right-Back, switching between Gary Neville, Wes Brown, and Rafael. Although Gary Neville is always injured and Rafael lacks experience, the fans still appreciate what a mediocre player offers to the club. I understand Anelka has been at Chelsea for less than a year but he has proven himself to be lethal force and obviously a favorite of Scolari. As for wingers we have Kalou, Malouda, Joe Cole, and Scott Sinclair. If that is enough I do not know what is. You guys should take a look at some other teams squads then you wouldn’t be so frustrated about what we have.

First, don’t ever question my — or anyone else’s — loyalty to the club on this site. Period.
Second, if I think we need a striker, a winger or a new food vendor, that’s my opinion and I have a right to express it.
Third, Wes Brown, Gary Neville and Rafael are all solid — if not good — right backs so you’re logic is plenty skewed.Posted from

“First, don’t ever question my — or anyone else’s — loyalty to the club on this site. Period.”
Amen.

Well I guess me working under Frank Arnesen as a scout for Chelsea for 7 years during the Gullit. Vialli, and Mourinho years doesn’t qualify as an expert opinion here?

Plus I was stating my opinion as well in the previous post

I don’t care if you’re Mourinho himself.

point taken mouzinho. Compare our squad to liverpool, arsenal, man u.we have gems!! Bosy in rb terry alex sinclair drog essien mikel . .and the list goes on.this is pure quality. Come to think of it liverpool are only where there are due to the incredible luck of gerrard.the team is full of sickenly average players.torres an exception. Kuyt just runs too much.remove these 3 and gone.Chelsea can lose 8 players and still tick. We just ooze class. I cant wait for scolari to have headaches on which starting 11to pick out of a fully fit squad! Fergie has all his men and still loses to teens haha. Our reserves are also quality kakuta stoch tejera nubile. . .even if chelsea never had all these top players i would still love this team for its shear heart and character from relegation to here.the biggest leap of faith i have seen. CHELSEA 4 LIFE!

Jack I apologize for being rude in the previous post. I hope you forgive me. After all you understand what you are talking about and are a quality writer. So sorry… but this is a RANT BOX after all
Yes Craig, our Youth is impeccable.

Ah, I keep coming back here!
Craig’s absolutely right. I think we’ve got excellent depth in the squad to cover for the starting XI most of the time. But I do think Chelsea misses Essien though– Mikel’s sort of inconsistent at times with sloppy passes but gladly improves throughout a game. Speedy recovery for the Bison, I hope. Mineiro.. meh, not convinced yet.

Yeah as Craig was saying, “Chelsea can lose 8 players and still tick”… kinda like our current situation with all the injuries. Yeah Mikel is getting good at a fast rate. I agree with you electrify about Mineiro.

All is well my friends. Regarding our youth, I’m a proponent of it as well. Too bad, they never get a chance on the big stage. Just look at what Arsenal’s babies did today.

i just keep coming back here.i love our squad just want to see di santo play more. He is a target man like drogba.he wins headers and annoys defenders.his physique wil come with age.mikel can be our best player if he works at it for real.just needs more concentration and aggression to win slide tackles,be ruthless when going forward like essien and more accurate shooting.he has everything height ,pace.etc. The burnley loss was a shame though it will teach us how to handle situations like these
