FA Youth Cup: Chelsea runs riot
By: Jack | February 27th, 2008
The Chelsea youngstas booked a place in the FA Youth Cup semifinals Tuesday night.
They dominated Port Vale 5-2 at Vale Park, a sublime hat-trick from Frenchman Gael Kakuta the highlight of the night. Morten Neilsen and Miroslav Stoch added to the tally.
Vale scored boths of its goals in the second half, the first through Jonathan Compton on a penalty while the second came via a Danny Glover — of Lethal Weapon fame — free-kick.
Kakuta opened the scoring in the 13th minute, doubling his total in the 27th with a scathing effort. He completed the three-piece in the 67th from point-blank range.

I watched the game on Chelsea TV. Had Chelsea scored ten the score would not have flattered Paul Clements men/boys!!!
Shame the first team couldn’t have had the same attitude two days before. Anyway.
Kudos to Port Vale, over 3,000 people turned up to watch the game and in the last round Port Vale did beat Tottingham.
In the semi-final Chelsea are at home to Aston Villa in the first leg on Friday 7th March (the day before I travel to Barnsley in the FA Cup). Set up a story Jack and I will ‘live blog’ the game, Chelsea TV are showing the game live.
KTBFFH!!

Seems the £5 million outlay on youth development over the last year is beginning to pay off and some of the boys brought in recently look truly outstanding.
Not to be pessimistic but when are these guys actually going to be given a game in the first team? I know the likes of Michael Woods and Scott Sinclair appear to be on their way in the reserves but even these lads have not even had a small run in the first-team.
I know that the talent we have in the first team is denying them of games but surely if we want our youngsters to develop they must be handed at least a chance from the bench?
A club such as Chelsea has so much cash at its disposal, does anyone actually believe the hype that long-term we will be looking to our youngsters to take us forward?Posted from
