This just in: Liverpool Offside inks 10-year extension with Chelsea obsession

By: Jack | February 16th, 2011

The trolls have also agreed to a similar contract. It really is quite flattering, you know?

And kind of sad.

Well done, sirs.

You beat us. Twice. You deserved all six points. Congratulations. Now, how about moving on to bigger and better things? Yeah, like focusing on the mighty Wigan.

To quote an author who has supported Chelsea for some 30-plus years, a man who began his writing career with the Sunday Times in the early 90s …

“And this has made me realise one thing: Chelsea are not a big club. The fans I know and interact with at games, on twitter and on the internet are not priggish, blinkered and self-important, we don’t lack perspective, we don’t (in general) think we are better than everybody else, we acknowledge weaknesses and celebrate the bad as well as the good in our history. We are VERY good at laughing at ourselves. In short, we are not Liverpool and I hope to god we never become like them because that’s not my idea of what makes somebody a football supporter.”

Preach.

    Come on Tranmere!!!!

  • See, a post like this would work better if it was Breaking News! or maybe Chelsea Offside Exclusive!

Like, Breaking News: Chelsea Offside desperately courts trolls in attempt to feed persecution complex.

Though honestly, Jack, I liked it better when you were going on Twitter to call all Liverpool fans scum before calling me a prick and then after doing both those things running off to play the victim. Yawn. Get back to me when you grow a sense of humour or figure out literary device.

  • Chelsea

Noel, my reply to Ed goes to you as well. You are an impeccable writer with a vast fleury of knowledge and it is evident in your writing. From your abstract nonsense language, stream of consciousness, Schroedinger's cat experiment, Zero entropy, Quantum mechanics, Quantum-Gravity, String Theory, Mirror Symmetry, T-branes to Yukawa Couplings and Monodromy metaphors permeating in your writing...You know it all, and at times, it is important to re-read through the details.
But your above suggestions to Jack ("literary device"...or "Breaking News") shows a bit of "arrogance" and "amour of propre". No everyone is gifted like you, or smart like you but you don't have to rub the salt on the wound. Humility goes a long way!
So hopefully, You and Ed can forgive Jack, and vice-versa. Peace!

  • Assuming anybody was lining up to call me smart, I suspect I'd be shuffling towards the back of the line with an eye to nipping into a nearby pub for a pint. But on the whole, thanks. I think.

Though I did have to look up Yukawa Couplings.

Honestly, though, any appearance of arrogance or condescension were merely the unfortunate byproducts of my attempts to not simply unleash a torrent of angry cursing. I'm all for the occasional bit of fun poking at trolls, but to behave in such a manner before subsequently running off to act the victim is unseemly. That Jack still harbours some great hurt from weeks ago when he couldn't be arsed to read past the title and subsequently called me names as a first response before running to Twitter to play the victim rankles as well, particularly as it finds reflection in today's ongoing snit where once again with little or no provocation that I can see anywhere Jack has taken it upon himself to have a good old fashioned outburst all while playing at being the aggrieved party.

  • Fuck it, I'm deleting my comments. It's worthless.

  • Ed

Shame really, that comment about us being the "idiot squad" seemed like it was a step forward.

  • Yeah, I liked it too, but seeing as we're "uniting" ...

  • Ed

So wait, which one of us is supposed be humorless and call you a fucking prick, and then run to Twitter to get sympathy about it?

  • Chelsea

You are all so mean! Enough of this childish scuffle. There was no need for Jack to write this post, though he was trying to respond to the "Liverpool" trolls. It certainly did not work because he has attracted even more of them now. But really, the Liverpool trolls are in no way related to the Liverpool Offside (Ed or Noel) or endorsed by them whatsoever. The Liverpool trolls are trolls and should be ignored, deleted or banned.
I know Jack is very "hypersensitive", and most likely misread Noel's earlier post "Breaking News: Chelsea Offside...". I myself misread that Noel post thinking it was about Jack and the Chelsea offside, and had to reread it. But enough!

With Noel and Ed both responding, a kind of retaliation, instead of turning the other cheek make all 3 moderators appear childish and sensitive.
Blogs about football should unite us and celebrate our love for the games and our respective teams while being mutually respectful of others.
So hopefully, Ed, Noel,Jack and the two offsides (Liverpool & Chelsea) can finally make peace, and be the grown-ups that you really are.

  • Ed

I'm on board, thanks for the comment.

  • LFC

IAM STARTING TO FEEL REALLY SORRY FOR FERNANDO TORRES NOW HE REALISES HE HAS MADE A MISTAKE. THE LADS HEAD LOOKS BATTERED. BUT HE MADE THE CHOICE SO BE IT ON YOUR OWN BACK FERNANDO SHEVCHENKO THE BIGGEST FLOP IN HISTORY OF FOOTBALL

  • real_deal

35m for caroll, even more than sheva, lets see how mr caroll does in a liverpool shirt.

p.s i doubt if torres will ever regret leaving pool he even said what a relief it was leaving them for chelsea.

  • LFC

    JOG ON YOU TOOL

  • Max

You jog on, you're not welcome here, and I bet I know more about Liverpool history than you do.

  • anon

    Everyone,

The picture above of the Torres shirt being burned is unbelievable but even more amazing is for the first time in my life (39 years) I can see a bin dipper who actually owns some deodorant!!!!

  • Aj

Its a shame that, a liverpool supporter spent months saving up for that top working in the great economic city we call pool, only to burn it afterwards.

I wouldnt be suprised if he went back to the pool store to ask for a refund afterwards.

  • real_deal

its the lynx effect. hey if they are willing to burn the shirt, at least make sure it smells good.

  • LIVERPOOL

THATS A GREAT PICTURE! AS FOR TORRES THAT MONKEY WILL BE ON HIS BACK UNTIL HE SCORES FOR YOUR SH*TE CLUB THE BOY IS A FAGGOT

  • real_deal

so if hes a faggot and you worshipped him for all those years, what does that make you??

  • Neil Mullens

That was quite funny. Actually, I think you'll find that most of us genuine (read 'old school') Liverpool supporters don't take ourselves that seriously. Unfortunately, every club has it's fair share of numpty fans. Success will always bring a number of fair-weather supporters, but I know for a fact that a large portion of your fans were there a long time before Roman arrived and will be there a long time after he goes, come what may. Personally, I couldn't give a toss about your money comes from. Until Uncle Roman came along, Man Utd had had it all their own way in the transfer market for years. Things have evened up a bit now. And Torres going to your lot was solely down to the player himself. If Man Utd, Arsenal or Man City had offered the same terms he could have ended up there just as easily. And I'm sure most Reds fans will be more than happy if Torres gets a couple of hat-tricks in your two games against you-know-who... :-)

  • Ben

Bore on you mug, you're so obsessed with Liverpool you will write about us long after the Torres thing has died down. Chelsea sites write more about Liverpool than Chelsea and have done for six years! I suppose thats due to a lack of interesting things to say about your own club, but maybe you should try?

  • Zolaking

Chelsea won the UEFA cup in 1971 two years before Liverpool won it, so in those two years did Liverpool have no "history" ?
Or does "history" only start in 1973. You lot live in the past and talk about all your glorious history like no other team played football before the early 70's, trouble is thats all you can talk about because lets face it youve never won the Premier League and never will, so lets dismiss everyone else and churn out the mantra that you have history and no one else has any, idiots! When we were taken over lets not forget we finished second that year and had already qualified for the Champs league. If you take a little time to do some research you'll see that most clubs have history, the fact that Liverpool has a sucsessful one has attracted more fans to you, who by your theory must be "plastic" aswell you've just had them longer!!!

  • FatJanMolby

Why start in the 1970s Zolaking? Liverpool had won the league 7 times before the 70s, so we'd started making our "history" already. Chelsea may have won a European trophy before us but we've won that said trophy 3 times in comparison to your 1. And not to mention the European Cup, which we've won 5 times in comparison to your....0.

You've won the League 4 times, but 3 of them came after Roman opened his wallet, whereas we've won it 18 times. You've won the FA Cup 6 times but 3 of those came after Roman's millions and we've won it 7. League Cup - 4 for you with 2 coming from Roman's spending spree, but we've won it 7 times.

So basically we have won more trophies than you over a longer time. If it wasn't for Roman's millions your trophy cabinet would be quite bare. Of the 15 trophies major trophies you have won 8 of them came after Roman spent hundreds of millions of pounds. Fair play to you, but it is a bit hollow isn't it?

Allow me to put in a table as that may make it easier

    Liverpool Chelsea
    League 18 4
    European Cup 5 0
    FA Cup 7 6
    League Cup 7 4
    UEFA Cup 3 1

I make that 40 major titles in comparison to your 15. At the end of the day our rivlalry only started because of the Mourinho Benitez rivalry where we played you a dozen or so times in a few years. Before that you Cheslea weren't even on our radar. We've always been more concerned with Man Utd and Arsenal. Another two teams who have far more history than you.

  • Teddy Mutai

what uve won in the past aint a big deal now how about u go down in the table for a period of time. spare us ten years ago and talk of right now

  • Mike_broomy

But how many times have you won the Premier league....zero.....zero...zero.....is football only about history? Have you done the double? no...who cares about Liverpool these days apart from Liverpool fans???? History is a past acheivement, well done, nobody can dispute your history, but if we're writing the next section of ours now what's it to you? why do you care so much about Chelsea? Arsenal have history but have won SFA in the past 6 years? Manure went through baron spells in the late 70s 80s but have history, all clubs have history, even Hereford!! But your history only extends to trophies and singing you'll never walk alone on the Kop when you're 3 - 0 up. Well done for your trophy comparison, it proves that you were once a better club than Chelsea in terms of trophies, but on the other hand proves that you've not won the league for a couple of decades!!! History! I thank you for caring enough about Chelsea to write about our history, which is patronising in itself but really its only us blues that care enough about our history to talk about. Your gripe with us is that we bought Torres for a ridiculous amount of money, none of you shallow scousers cared when you sold us Benayoun or when Cole went to you...........

  • FatJanMolby

So football only started with the PL did it? Lets forget about everything else before then. Before Roman you had won 7 trophies in 100 years. Because you spent hundreds of millions of pounds and bought every good player under the sun so that no-one else could have them you won the league. Well done. But ask any fan which club is a bigger club and everyone will say Liverpool except you fools, who are actually based in Fulham and not Chelsea. You're right. I shouldn't care about Chelsea. When Roman goes, so to will Chelsea as we know it. You'll go back to mid table mediocrity and the odd cup.

20 odd years without winning the league and we still have more fans worldwide than you do. Thats a big club; even when we are not successful we are still a bigger club than you. Your fans turned up in 2003 along with Roman.

  • Mike_broomy

You've missed the point completely moron, I didn't say football started with the PL, but you haven't won it so you can bang on about your history but it doesn't hide the fact that Liverpool are average and have been for sometime. Actually the whole point of the original article is aimed at colossal bores like you. Its great that you can download Chelsea's honours from our website but somewhat sad. Would you rather rejoice in your glorious past or think about what's coming up? next round of the CL/FA cup? I couldn't give a monkeys about your history, your club or your crappy songs like I said I'm only interested in history? You have more fans worldwide? based on what? How the hell do you know? Once a great club, now history!!

  • Teddy Mutai

why do u care which year we turned out and I tell u give us ten years we will be bigger than u

  • real_deal

lol talking of money, how much money did liverpool spend over last 10 years and wheres the league title. lol you may find that youve spent over 400m in a 10 year period from houlier, rafa etc

  • FatJanMolby

We did spend money but you've spent more. Seriously, where were you until Roman took over? Your were a decent cup team. It took Roman spending the best part of £350m in about 2 years that lead to your titles. You spent over £150m in Roman's first year. No other club, apart from Man City, have every done that. You bought your titles, plain and simple. We spent money in order to compete, as every team does, but it was over a period of about 10 years, not 3.

  • real_deal

man city have spent over 500m in 2-3 years, its much more than we have spent but have they won anything? you wont bother them as they are not winning anything. just becuase we are winning things and your not is obviously annoying you. In the rafa period alone you have spent more than 250m and won no PL title. anyway trust me you would rather have a rich suger daddy like us than some yanks running your club and running it full of debts.

  • zach

you realise liverpool had all the money when they won their titles, right?... at least now there is 5-6 sides spending $$$. back in the 80s it was only liverpool. reds fans talk about history but most of them are 15 year olds who know nothing about the sport.

  • real_deal

your stats are wrong, chelsea won 2 uefa cup winners cups

  • FatJanMolby

real_deal, there's a difference between the Cup Winner's Cup and the UEFA Cup chief. You have won the Cup Winner's Cup twice but that competition doesn't exist anymore so I didn't include it. You've only won the UEFA Cup, what they now call the Europa League, once. Let me guess, you've only been watching football for a few years? Not since Roman bought you was it?

  • Zolaking

The UEFA Cup doesn't exist anymore either but you include that in your stats!

5 European titles etc but that's only 1 really because it's now called the Champions League something your not in any more and you only got in last time because you cried like babies as you were the holders but only finished 5th and your neibours Everton were kicked out, real classy club you lot are!
Don't think I've ever seen a Chelsea fan burn a form players shirt either or the fans of any other English side behave so bad in europe that they get the whole country banned for 5 years, Liverpool the most classless team in english football ever.

  • Aj

thats true, dont forget hillsborough too, which also involved liverpool fans. yes english clubs got banned for 5 years but took english football another 10 years to recover with the rest of europe. who was affected the most....yes liverpool, ever since then majority of clubs in europe and uk overtook liverpool since then and they havnt been the same since. you talk of history, history includes bad things as well as good things, so are you proud of that part of liverpools history or have you guys just wiped it from your memories??

  • FatJanMolby

And I think this is where I leave you idots to it. Bringing Hillsborough in to the argument is just poor form. That was a tradegy which was caused by the police and not fans. Heysel is another matter, and we do remember it as our history, yes, not with pride but we do rememberr it every year.

  • Aj

Im sorry if i offended pool supporters but if you read the wiki page on the hillsborough disaster you will realise it wasnt just the fault of the police, let me extract a piece. I am aware of the lives that were lost but simply blaming police and not other factors is pure ignorance.

In the Wednesday following the disaster, Kelvin MacKenzie, then editor of The Sun, a British tabloid newspaper with national distribution owned by Rupert Murdoch, used the front page headline "THE TRUTH", with three sub-headlines: "Some fans picked pockets of victims", "Some fans urinated on the brave cops" and "Some fans beat up PC giving kiss of life".
The controversial front page of the Sun.

The story accompanying these headlines claimed that "drunken Liverpool fans viciously attacked rescue workers as they tried to revive victims" and "police officers, firemen and ambulance crew were punched, kicked and urinated upon". A quotation, attributed to an unnamed policeman, claimed a dead girl had been "abused", and that Liverpool fans were "openly urinating on us and the bodies of the dead". These allegations contradicted the reported behaviour of many Liverpool fans, who actively helped the security personnel to stretcher away a large number of victims and gave first aid to many injured.[citation needed]

  • FatJanMolby

Mate, if I were you I would go and learn about what actually happened, and not read wiki and definitely not listen to what Kelvin Mackenzie had to say about it.

This is a start for you.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/...

  • Max

You coming here and arguing with us and trying to put us down is poor form buddy. This is a CHELSEA (!!) blog, not a Liverpool one. If you don't like what we're saying then leave, you're not very much welcome here anyway if you keep acting like this and pretend that your club is somehow better than ours just because you had more money in the past and were more successful in the past.

  • FatJanMolby

So why are talking about Liverpool then if its a Chelsea blog? The only reason i'm here is because it shows up on Newsnow.

  • Max

I'm only responding to people who started talking about Liverpool. I didn't write this post, and you know this whole thing was started by that silly boy/girl who posts as LFC. He came in and started posting all of this BS about us, and he did foment much of this ire against Liverpool and their fans. If you want a starting point for this, it's the poster LFC.

  • real_deal

yes as a chelsea fan im with fatjanmolby on this one, we shouldnt bring hillsborough into it, i apologise on his behalf.

  • real_deal

Its also a shame for everton as i remember they were dominating at the time of the heysel disaster and were banned from europe because of liverpools actions but i doubt if pool supporters will mind that.

  • real_deal

so because a competion doesnt exist anymore you shouldnt include it...lol what a load of tosh, so in a few years if they get rid of the league cup does that mean the league cup would dissappear from all the teams that won it. Also im glad you know what the Europa league (poor mans CL if you ask me) is as its the only competition youll be playing at in the forseeable future.

  • FatJanMolby

Ok, lets include it. 17 in total then.

Don't get too cocky sunshine. You're in 5th at the moment, you may well be playing Europa League next season too.

  • real_deal

Yes thats true theres a possibility chelsea may miss out on CL, its the biggest worry for chelsea fans. I agree liverpool is a bigger club, biggest club in england also chelsea fans did not ask for torres, 90% of them were against it but end of the day its romans money and he can do what he wants with it. Also i was a chelsea supporter before roman and winning all these titles is a bonus for me but when the day comes that roman leaves and we dont win anything , id still be supporting chelsea, to be honest with you the days of gullit and hoddle and vialli were much more fun and they were before roman. not taking away what roman has done nor mourinho, my point is chelsea supporters would have been happy not winning anything as we are a small club, roman came along and started splashing the cash, ideally i would prefer us to buy sensibly rather than wasting money on sheva, veron, torres , mutu etc. as liverpool are a big club they are always expected to win things so i can understand your frustations when a smaller club like us comes along and wins and you dontm. also remeber this money does not guarantee success, you just have to look at the likes of man city, real madrid etc

  • doc

just to elaborate, dont discount what mourinho did for the club, money doesnt guarantee success you need to know what to do with the money and build a squad, work out tactics and formations, build a unity/bond, build a winning mentality and plenty of hard work etc etc. I wouldnt discount mou joining liverpool one day when kenny leaves, but i guarantee you none of chelsea supporters will be burning mou's shirt as hell always be special to us.

  • Kai

The Special One has his eyes on Fergie's seat since day 1. :)

  • FatJanMolby

Fair play real_deal, decent response. I preferred football without the masses amount of money too. The misconception that people have with Liverpool fans is that we harp on about our history all the time. We don't, we only ever bring it up when fans of our clubs try to wind us up. And of course we are going to big up our own clubs just as you will. I don't sit in the pub with my mates talking about the 80s all the time (even though they were great), we talk about the here and now.

We have the young fans who want instant success and mouth off, and we have the fair weather fans too, who unfortunately make the most noise on the blogs and web. At the end of the day I have no personal issue with Chelsea or Chelsea fans to be fair. Our main footballing rivals will always be Man Utd and Everton.

  • Aj

dont get me wrong, i do agree on most of your points and know where u come from, i enjoy talking with intelligent supporters like yourself, but there are a few idiots who come on here and just be childish. definitely respect you for putting your points across in a respectable manner.

  • Zolaking

Not on your radar! You pompus idiot we beat you to take that Champions League spot that lead to Roman buying us.

Notice there's no mention of the Premier league and how many times you've won that! = Nil!!!

Buy the way if you think Liverpool won all those titles and trophies buy not spending money you are deluded, in the 80's you spent more than any other team and Tubby wasn't shy either he just brought carbagge and you still suffering now because of it.

  • FatJanMolby

It's not being pompous. There's two o's in pompous by the way. In terms of football our rivals have been (and are) Man Utd, Everton, Arsenal (in that order probably). Man Utd and Arsenal because they are the 2nd and 3rd most successful clubs in England and Everton as they're our neighbours. We didn't care about Chelsea until recently so you weren't on our radar. Its a fact. In fact you weren't on anybody's radar until Roman bought you.

We haven't won the league in a long time, but we've still won two European trophies which you haven't and won plenty of domestic cups, having spent much less money. At the moment you are one league position better than us and we had a terrible first half of the season, so don't try to tell me that you're that much better than us.

There is a big difference in spending money you earned from your success, which is what we did in the 80s, and having a rich sugar daddy.

  • real_deal

now now stop being jealous, you know youd want a rich sugar daddy instead of yanks running your club.

  • real_deal

your missing the point, how many cups you won over last 5 years, chelsea are the future and youll always be in the past, and never win a league title the way things are going on at liverpool.

  • LFC

WELL SAID FATJAN THESE SILLY CHELSEA FANS AND THERE FLASH IN THE PAN GLORY

  • Max

It's also "their" not "there." "There" refers to a place, "their" refers to ownership by a person or persons.

  • Max

Like someone told you before, use proper grammar before posting here. Your (correct usage) grasp of the English language is pretty horrid. Also, you're not welcome here buddy. Move, you're (correct usage) not contributing anything positive, and nobody likes you because all you want to do is put us down. If you want to make Liverpool look better, you'd do that best by leaving. You make all of us look at Liverpool fans in a bad light because you sound like a silly, immature hooligan.

  • real_deal

best post i read all day

  • Devin

The mere fact that 7 of you responded to this before a CFC supporter demonstrates the very definition of trolling. Move on, lot.

  • Lordmazdamundi

The mere fact that pages that supposedly write about Chelski write about other teams to have some reaction (from opposite fans by means of provocation) as usually there isnt, well THAT is trolling. Just WHO needs to move on?

  • I assume you never visit Liverpool Offside then. Not stupid, just dumb.

  • No, it's fine bro. You know it and I know it. All it does is prove the point.

  • Devin

    True story.

  • oz

Please no one react to this, Im a reds fan and this is just a bit silly.

Good attempt at a troll. Back to your bridge.

  • Dannylangley

Ha Ha!! you have to have history to appreciate it! I'm sure if Chelsea had had success, you would be proud of it, thats all LFC are, proud.

  • PlasticFlag

Nice to see Chelski fans copying of Liverpools Torres flag and singing Liverpools Torres songs the other night - What a joke!

  • Andrewmassey1963

Chelsea = Pathetic club. Plastic johnny come lately support who nick others people's Songs (when you actually do sing lol), copy our banners (complete with the Shankly Gates!!!) and just downright pathetic. Still a small club and will always be sodespite your rich Russian bitch.

  • Mr606

That sort of attitude is exactly why you have little history and no fan base , just plastic fans plastic players plastic owners , and to top it off plastic comments that make us Liverpool fans piss ourselves laughing at you. Watch this space LIVERPOOL WILL FINISH ABOVE Chavski and then you will be wondering were you go from there , as the profits you are losing are to great to qualify for Europe and then your russian owner will sell and make a MASSIVE loss leaving you guys in hugh debt and looking really good for relegation ! Now Liverpool on the other hand are debt free and on the up ! WATCH THIS SPACE

  • Ssshhhh

Oh please....the mere fact you took the time to publish crap like this shows exactly whos obsessed with who.Dont flatter yourself, you dont even register on a reds fans radar as after all,if it wasnt for a shady Russian and his roubles you'd be out of business.
I think this is what really rankles you lot.It doesnt matter what you win no-one will give you credit for it because lets face it ANYONE can spend that amount of money and win something. You could do it,and I'm pretty certain I could do it.You throw enough money at them and Crawley could win the premier league. And there in a nutshell is it....your just Crawley with more money.Get over it.

PS. Thanks for taking that good for nothing off our hands, nice doing business with you.

  • Hughes_nye

"bad as well as the good in our history" What history?

  • Max

CFC was founded in 1905...how can they not have history?
    History: noun ( pl. -ries)
    1. the whole series of past events connected with someone or something

So clearly, being founded in 1905 means we have history.

  • Ian

Can we call this good now? There was the first jab, the retaliation, all the trolling in between. Or are we somehow going to bring Fulham into this and make it last forever?

  • Fulham Offside? No way, those bastards are fucking scary.
