Video: Mikel meets Messi, doesn’t like it

By: Jack | September 7th, 2011

Argentina disposed of Nigeria 3-1 in Bangladesh on Tuesday. Among the highlights was a certain Lionel Messi robbing a certain John Obi Mikel at midfield, and turning said theft into a supreme goal for the La Albiceleste (via Angel Di Maria).

It’s all good, John. We still love you.

Chelsea and Inter Milan still remain the only teams to dominate Barça

I agree ... We always played well against them . Even in CL 1999-2000, we played very well against them until Babayaro was sent off...

Mikel typically produces 1-2 moments per match where he puts the defenders and keeper in a massive state of anxiety due to his poor decision. This was par for the course..89 good minutes with 1 very poor one

  • Can't believe people are still of the belief that Mikel is substandard. Sure, he has flaws - distributing the ball far too slow the most problematic - but he is a fantastic player. He deserves far more credit for the role he plays for us, I reckon.

People watch football with sentiments. Mikel made  a mistake agreed. What were the defenders doing? Messi has never been a threat to Nigeria - Olympic 2008 and World Cup 2010. Thinking of Holland 2005? Dubious finals ever in the history of the competitions. Bye the way my old Mum could have Scored those Goals without boots on her feet

this shows how poor he is..against a top team he's our weak link...poor passing,no pace and can't defend...

Few players in the whole of premier can pass the ball better than Mikel. I thought you would complain he doesn't score goals. bye the way how many goals did makalele scored for chelsea, Yet he was one the best holding Midfielders in the world.

Doesn't surprise me...mikel has a habit of changing directions with a typical laziness and for quick attacking midfielders, it becomes easy to rob him.

Mikel completely dominated messi in the second half though.

I am sorry for my language but I do not give a damn about international games.

Would of liked seeing a little more effort from Obi to get the ball back.
